Amazon updates Small and Light Program eligibility criteria, sellers: It’s really hard to find…

Yesterday, Amazon US and UK simultaneously announced that they would make two changes to the Amazon Logistics Small and Light Program starting October 29, 2021. The content is as follows:

1. To make it easier for sellers’ products to qualify for the program, Amazon will no longer require sellers’ ASINs to have a minimum sales velocity.

2. Amazon no longer requires a minimum quantity limit for each ASIN for goods shipped to Amazon's fulfillment centers .

Afterwards, sellers said in the forum that this was a rare "useful" policy of Amazon .

Seller A: That's great news! It will solve some of the challenges I'm facing. S&L used to only apply to products $13 and under, then it changed to $7 and under. With rising material and shipping costs in recent years, sellers' costs have also been increasing. Is it possible that Amazon will raise the dollar threshold for products to $10 in the future?

Seller B: I fully support this new rule from Amazon. The $7 cap after last year's price increase doesn't sound enough. $10 would be the ideal price standard.

It can be seen that while sellers support Amazon's new regulations, they have also expressed their own suggestions, believing that due to the continuous increase in material and transportation costs, sellers' production costs are also increasing, and price increases for small and light products are inevitable. Therefore, if Amazon raises the product threshold to $10, I believe that more sellers will agree with Amazon's new regulations.

Although Amazon's update on the Small and Light Program eligibility criteria has received support from most sellers, there are still some sellers who are not optimistic about Amazon's new regulations.

Seller C: Thanks, that's helpful for us. However, we will still be "constrained" by the unit limits that are now in place. Each new S&L item we send will be at the expense of another more valuable item. Therefore, it may not work for us.

Seller D: Don't worry, they'll do something stupid next week to make up for any improvement.

Seller E: Then they will admit that they made a mistake.

While some sellers agree with the new rules, they also point out that Amazon still has the problem of S&L unit restrictions. In addition, some "suffering" sellers are used to Amazon's repeated jumps and think that this practical new rule is just a flash in the pan. It seems that sellers are really scared by Amazon...
