Zalando is Germany's largest online sales platform for shoes, clothing and fashion accessories, and is currently the largest e-commerce platform in Europe.
In recent years, as the consumption level in Europe has increased, Zalando has also grown. Especially during the lockdown period, people shopped more frequently online, which further boosted Zalando's sales. According to statistics, during the epidemic, Zalando's sales increased by about 23% to 8 billion euros, and its profits were more than twice that before the epidemic.
According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, Zalando's revenue is expected to reach 10.3 billion euros in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 29% and an increase of nearly 60% from 2019.
The company aims to achieve a gross merchandise volume (GMV) of more than 30 billion euros by 2025 and also strives to capture more than 10% of the European fashion market in the longer term.
Previously, according to foreign media reports, Zalando had achieved its strongest quarterly growth since its public offering at the beginning of the year, with revenue increasing by 46.8% to 2.2 billion euros and profit increasing by 4.2% to 93.3 million euros. The outstanding performance has given many local and multinational sellers high hopes for its future.
Among them, children's clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty products, sporting goods, fashionable home furnishings and other categories are relatively hot-selling on Zalando.
Germany currently has a population of 82.9 million, making it the most populous country in Europe. In the e-commerce market, Germany ranks second in the world. Compared with the European average, Germany's e-commerce consumers are relatively excellent in terms of quantity and quality, and are leading in terms of Internet penetration and average online spending. These advantages have provided a good breeding ground for Zalando's rapid development.
In view of different regions in Europe, Zalando divides Europe into several regions according to shopping habits and geographical locations. Each region has a specific team responsible for studying consumer behavior and developing appropriate websites based on the preferences of each country, product classification, payment methods, etc. Such "customized services" provide a lot of convenience for both consumers and sellers.
Since its establishment in Germany in 2008, Zalando has cooperated with more than 4,000 brands, and its online retail business has gradually expanded to more than 20 European countries.
After entering the e-commerce markets of Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia in early 2021 , Zalando has continued to expand its presence in Central and Eastern Europe. Now with the e-commerce markets of Croatia, Estonia and Latvia, the platform has expanded to six markets in Eastern Europe.
The continuous expansion of the territory also means that they have the opportunity to reach more than 17.5 million potential new buyers. Sellers who have settled in can also sell their products throughout the European market through the Zalando platform.
In addition to Amazon, corporate sellers who are interested in entering the European market can also consider popular e-commerce platforms in their home country, such as Zalando. German e-commerce Zalando |
