Target will close stores all day on Thanksgiving, online sales remain unchanged

In order to reduce the spread of the epidemic, Target closed its stores during Thanksgiving in 202. Recently , Target said in a statement that it will continue to move forward this year and keep Target stores closed all day on Thanksgiving .

Target and Walmart aren't the only stores that won't be open on Thanksgiving this year. Other major retailers, including Kohl's, Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Foot Locker, Macy's, Costco, Bed Bath & Beyond and REI, will be closed on Turkey Day.

However, although Target will close its stores on the 25th , the company has launched holiday discounts in stores and online, which can still meet buyers' holiday shopping needs.

It is reported that earlier this month, as the shortage of retail staff has not been well alleviated , Target announced that it will provide an additional allowance of $2 per hour for employees working on certain weekends and holidays during the holidays. Raising wages to attract employees has become a consensus among retailers.

According to foreign media reports, Target's chief human resources officer Melissa Kreme wrote in a note to Target employees that this is just one way the company expresses its deep gratitude to employees who have made significant contributions . Target also intends to hire an additional 100,000 seasonal employees and 30,000 supply chain employees during the holiday season , and provide 5 million hours of additional work time to its store employees this holiday season.

Additionally, Target will launch a week-long holiday sale every Sunday starting October 31, promising its best prices of the season on electronics, toys, kitchen appliances, apparel and beauty products.

Currently, many retailers in the United States have adopted an integrated online and offline business model. Although Target will close its stores on Thanksgiving, its sales will be transferred to online. According to previous statistics, 64% of people said that they used to buy holiday gifts in physical stores, but this year the number has become 56%. The change in online shopping is just the opposite . 53% of people said that they used to shop on brand or retailer websites during the holidays and request home delivery services , but this year the number has increased by 9%, and online sales are still good.
