Sales volume increased by 70%, and electric toothbrushes ushered in a "golden age" during the epidemic

Foreign media reported that due to the impact of the epidemic, the demand for electric toothbrushes has increased dramatically, ushering in a "golden period" of sales. During the epidemic, the sales of electric toothbrushes on eMAG, the largest e-commerce website in Romania, increased by 70%.

After the outbreak of the epidemic in early 2020 , eMAG's sales of oral and dental care products increased significantly, up nearly 40% compared to before the epidemic, and online orders accounted for the majority of sales.

According to eMAG, sales of oral and dental care products in the first nine months of 2021 were almost the same as for the whole of 2019. In particular, electric toothbrushes and their accessories achieved the highest sales on eMAG last year, while sales of mouthwash accounted for only one-third of the category.

Among them, Oral-B brand electric toothbrushes are the most popular among consumers. Although online sales of traditional toothbrushes and toothpastes have also increased significantly, their sales are still not as good as electric toothbrushes.

After the outbreak, people are more likely to notice oral problems such as bad breath due to wearing masks for a long time. Therefore, more and more people pay attention to oral cleaning and care. The global electric toothbrush market generated $2.7 billion in revenue in 2019, and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5.7% from 2020 to 2030, with a valuation of $4.8 billion by 2030.

According to data from the AliExpress platform, domestic electric toothbrushes have experienced explosive growth in many overseas markets such as Europe and the Middle East in 2020. Among them, France's year-on-year growth rate exceeded 140%, Germany increased by 160%, Poland increased by 90%, and Saudi Arabia increased by more than 420%.

In addition to electric toothbrushes, the global market demand for children's toothbrushes is also increasing. Currently, Europe has the largest market share of children's toothbrushes in the world, about 41.5%. It is expected that the European toothbrush market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6% and reach US$2 billion by 2031.

With the improvement of living standards, people are paying more and more attention to oral health. As an oral care tool of the new era, electric toothbrushes have good development potential.
