Freight costs soar! FedEx rates in the US will rise across the board

For people working in e-commerce and foreign trade, logistics and freight rates are a topic they pay more attention to on a daily basis. Knowing logistics and freight rates can help businesses plan budgets, control costs, etc.

Today, the editor learned from FedEx’s official website in the United States that its air, ground and freight rates in the US market will increase to a certain extent .

Its US official website mentioned that fuel surcharges will be increased from November 1, 2021. FedEx said that due to labor market shortages and personnel mobility, frequent adjustments of aircraft, vehicles and other equipment have increased its total fuel consumption.

The increase in fuel fees will help FedEx adapt to rising fuel costs so that it can provide better service to customers during peak demand periods. FedEx will continue to evaluate and adjust fuel surcharges as the market changes.

In terms of freight rate adjustments, express freight rates within the United States and for import and export services will increase by an average of 5.9% , and FedEx Ground and FedEx Home delivery rates will also increase by 5.9%. At the same time, FedEx Ground Economy rates will also increase.

For freight , use FXF PZONE and FXF   Freight rates will increase by an average of 5.9% for customers using EZONE services and 7.9% for customers using FXF 1000 and 501 services .

The rate changes apply to shipments within the U.S. and between the U.S. contiguous area and Canada . FedEx rates will also increase for shipments within Canada, within Mexico, and between the U.S. contiguous area and Mexico.

In addition, next year, FedEx service fees will also see the following changes:

Effective January 17, 2022, FedEx will introduce a no-shipment delivery surcharge that will apply when a pickup is made and no shipment is delivered to the carrier.

Effective January 17, 2022, surcharges for international package pickup and delivery services outside the supported areas will be determined based on the corresponding level of the shipment's origin and/or destination postal code or city.

Beginning January 17, 2022, packages delivered or returned using FedEx Ground Economy service will be subject to a delivery and return surcharge.

Beginning January 24, 2022, additional handling surcharges and oversized surcharge rates for U.S. Express Parcel Service and U.S. Ground Service will be determined based on the region of the shipment.

According to inquiries, these changes have only appeared on FedEx's US official website. It is not clear whether the freight rates in the Chinese market will increase, but this to a certain extent reflects the challenging operating environment for merchants in the cross-border market. Merchants should pay close attention to relevant information and take effective countermeasures in a timely manner.
