The Amazon account ban wave has not yet ended, and another cross-border e-commerce seller has been reported for suspected e-commerce fraud due to mismatching of goods with the descriptions. Currently, the products have become unsaleable.
Shenzhen seller reported for defrauding foreign consumers
Recently, blogger @我是二姐夫, a Chinese resident who has lived in Canada for a long time, revealed a scam from a Chinese cross-border e-commerce seller . After digging deeper, the blogger discovered that the e-commerce seller was Shenzhen *** Technology Co., Ltd. As of press time, the link for this product on Walmart is no longer available for sale.
At present, the blogger has filed a report on the website of the Consumers' Association of Ontario, and expressed the hope that not only the website but also the government should strengthen the rectification of these companies that use cross-border e-commerce as an excuse to deceive consumers.
It all started when the blogger bought a mobile phone on Walmart Canada that did not match the picture /parameters of the actual product .
In July 2021, the blogger said that he bought a P40PRO phone on Walmart Canada. According to the product listing, this phone is 6.1 inches, has 6G RAM and 128G storage space, and the CPU is MediaTek MTK6889 (a bit like a domestic brand). After learning about such a high configuration, the blogger was attracted by the extremely contrasting price, because it cost only 56.99 Canadian dollars, which is less than 300 yuan in RMB.
The high configuration and low price clearly indicate that this is a fraudulent product. However, curiosity and the appeal of Walmart’s official website made the blogger want to buy this phone to see if it is as good as described in the product pictures or if there is something fishy going on.

Reality is often very harsh. Three weeks later, the blogger received the package. In line with the seal on the box that said "No returns or exchanges after opening", the CPU flashed was MediaTek MTK6763, and the baseband version was January 1, 2021. It really is what you want.

After testing, the blogger found that the actual baseband version of the phone was from July 2013. This is definitely a case of the product not matching the specifications. Since there is a problem with the product, it is necessary to exercise the legitimate rights of consumers and request a return. However, when the blogger requested a return, he encountered a series of problems.
The seller "plays rogue" and confirms the fact of fraud
Returning a product is like fighting a war, and multiple rounds of battles determine the outcome. According to the blogger, he first called Walmart to request a return, but because the product was sold by a third-party seller, the blogger switched from Walmart to the third-party seller and began to communicate with the seller about the return.
However, the seller’s attitude was not friendly. In the first two rounds of communication, he denied that the goods were not the same as the ones described. The blogger had no choice but to send relevant evidence to the seller and Walmart platform. After verification by the platform, it was handed over to the third-party seller for processing. In the next two rounds of communication, the seller first refused to reply, and then said that the goods were not the same as the ones described.
During the communication, the seller said that if the blogger wanted to return the product, he had to pay for the postage and return the product to a warehouse in Dongguan, China, before the relevant refund procedures would be processed. However, after investigation, the blogger found that the address where the phone was sent was a warehouse in Mississauga, Canada . According to common sense, the return address should also be Mississauga. The seller's request sounded like a hooligan.
(Picture from blogger @我是二姐夫) Seeing that the return was unsuccessful, the blogger could only ask customer service to intervene to protect his legitimate rights and interests. In addition, when Walmart agreed to refund the product because the product was not the same as the one described, the seller contacted the blogger several times, promising discounts from 5% to 10%, and finally to 20% , increasing the discount again and again, hoping that the blogger would not refund the product. The implication is self-evident, and e-commerce fraud has obviously become a reality.
As a veteran player in the Internet industry, it is inevitable to dig deeper. Following the clues, the blogger found that the registrant of the seller's company was the purchasing and order manager of Shenzhen *** Company, which made it easy to see where the matter was going.
As the saying goes, one bad apple spoils the whole barrel. The reputation that Chinese sellers have worked hard to build has been destroyed time and again by these people. First it was Amazon, then Walmart. From online fraud to mismatched goods , and even being found to have changed their identities and continued to sell, many netizens said that Amazon's ban was not unfair. If it had not been done, why would it be banned? Compliance operations are the kingly way, so as to avoid many problems.
Netizen: I support being serious, the account ban is not unfair at all
Coincidentally, a foreign blogger posted a video, saying that he saw an advertisement on a social networking site, in which a guy was operating a super-large inflatable plane. This undoubtedly aroused the blogger's interest, and he thought this giant toy was very interesting, so he clicked on the advertisement. At that time, this aircraft was on sale, and the advertisement said " You can buy 3 more than 3-meter-long aircraft for $60, and buy 3 get 1 free."
Action speaks louder than words, and the blogger immediately placed an order. But the result is often disappointing. After receiving the goods, the blogger wanted to curse, how can four inflatable airplanes over 3 meters long be stuffed into a packaging bag as big as an A4 paper?
The blogger angrily opened the package that was obviously from China Post and cursed, "F*ck, I received 4 small airplanes from a roadside stall? You think they are 3 meters long? " The airplane flying in the video was as smooth as silk, just like a real Boeing 747. Compared with the inflatable airplane that the blogger couldn't fly in reality, it was a sharp contrast, another example of the goods not being what they said.
In fact, not only on Amazon and Walmart platforms, but also on some social e-commerce platforms in the United States, the phenomenon of goods not matching the pictures is everywhere, which undoubtedly pushes Chinese sellers into an abyss. Some netizens also expressed their support for being serious and that the account was not unfair at all.
It has to be said that these people are really "scammers". They have scammed buyers and platforms, and even the sellers who sell goods peacefully have been implicated. This kind of operation not only lowers the overall quality level of sellers, but also affects the sales of other sellers abroad. Although it can make a profit in the short term, in the long run, it is not only detrimental to the sellers and platforms, but also to the development of the entire cross-border e-commerce industry.
Many people want to invest in cross-border e-commerce to make big money, but sellers also need to pay attention to this premise: there are people who make quick money in any industry. Even if the small profits in front of you are tempting, you still need to stick to your bottom line and principles . Whether relying on a platform or building your own website, complying with rules and policies is a must, otherwise everything will be in vain.
In general, whether it is e-commerce fraud or fake orders, these non-compliant behaviors will be cleared by Amazon. Especially since the account suspension earthquake has not stopped, it is more important to be cautious and not cross the red line. Of course, we also hope that after the storm is cleared, there will be a relatively good and fair competition environment, and more Chinese sellers can take a breath and fight again in the cross-border circle.
