Heavy rain hit Zhengzhou, 12 people died, but Henan held on!
Since yesterday, the heavy rain and floods in Zhengzhou, Henan and other places have dominated the news, attracting the attention of the whole nation. Heavy rains continue, many people are trapped, and there are casualties. The editorial office of Ennet is located in Zhengzhou, and we have personally experienced this major natural disaster.
How is Zhengzhou?
At present, many areas in Zhengzhou are still experiencing water and power outages, and bottled water, food, etc. in supermarkets have been sold out. Gaode Map shows that many roads in Zhengzhou city have been closed. Heavy rain hits Zhengzhou, 12 people died despite rescue efforts
The rain started on the 19th. On the afternoon of the 20th, the sound of rain outside the window became heavier and heavier. The gloomy weather made it look like it was seven or eight o'clock in the evening, but it was only a little after two o'clock.
Starting at 3:40 p.m. , Zhengzhou Metro began to issue frequent notices of entrance and exit closures and station suspensions. At around 4 a.m., the company arranged to leave work early, and colleagues who caught the subway secretly rejoiced, but then the subways stopped one after another, and some colleagues were stuck in the trains.
Due to the continuous heavy rain, all stations on the Zhengzhou Metro network suspended operations at 18:42.
Some people got out of the subway, but because of deep water on the road, traffic was interrupted. Two colleagues waded through the water for two hours before they got home. "The water at an intersection was above my stomach. I wanted to go to the other side but the current was too fast. I walked around two or three hundred meters and finally got across with someone else." Another colleague could only spend the night in the subway station: "I'm at the subway station and can't get out." Among the editor's circle of friends, some people sleep directly in the company.
At the time, no one thought we would be so close to disaster. Heavy rains were pouring down, and a video of a flooded subway went viral. The subway stations were flooded and many passengers were trapped, with the situation on Line 5 being particularly dangerous.
Severe waterlogging occurred in the Wulongkou parking lot and its surrounding areas. At 18:00 on the 20th, the water broke through the retaining wall of the entrance and exit lines and entered the main line section, causing the Zhengzhou Metro Line 5 trains to stop operating at Haitansi Street Station and Shakou Road Station tunnel trains. According to a video shot by a passenger on the train, the water level in the carriage was above the chest at the time, and the water level of the rushing water outside the carriage was even higher.
The content of the video is very worrying. One netizen said that lack of oxygen is one aspect, but the greater concern is electric shock from leakage.
At 7:32 that evening , the host Xiao Pei who was trapped on the subway posted a message on WeChat Moments: "All emergency and firefighters, please save us! We are trapped in the Line 5 tunnel (Haitan Temple-Shakoulu Road Station), please spread the word! The water in the car is up to my chest! I can't speak anymore, please help! Sos"; at 7:46, Xiao Pei said that the water in the subway car was almost up to her neck and her phone was out of battery.
As of 21:00 in the evening , the passengers trapped on Line 5 were rescued one after another by firefighters from the Zhengzhou Fire Brigade.
According to news released by Zhengzhou, at 18:10, Zhengzhou Metro issued an order to stop operating the entire network, organized forces, and evacuated the people. A total of more than 500 people were evacuated, of whom 12 died after rescue efforts failed and 5 were injured.
There were also multiple requests for help outside the subway. Yesterday, a netizen posted a message asking for help, saying that the water level was as high as 1.7 meters on the roadside at the intersection of Jinguan Road and Wenhua Road , and more than a dozen people were trapped for several hours and had difficulty breathing, and requested help to evacuate.
Inside Zhengzhou East Station, the waiting hall began to leak, and people had to hold umbrellas to block the leaks. In the square outside the station, the water level had reached shoulder level, and people in the water could only move with difficulty.
Some hospitals are also in trouble. According to the relevant person in charge of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, the entire Heyuan District of the hospital was without power, all elevators were out of service, and the backup power supply was also unavailable. Nearly 3,000 medical staff stayed at their posts, stepped up patrols and ward rounds, and coordinated the transfer of more than 600 critically ill patients. In the early morning of the 21st, the hospital director Liu Zhangsuo said that the power supply bureau's emergency vehicles were in place and were organizing the restoration of power supply, "but one is not enough, I asked for four to five."
Last night, my friends were all reminding me of the danger of Changzhuang Reservoir, asking me not to sleep. Being in Zhengzhou, I felt for the first time that the night was so long ...
In addition to Zhengzhou, Gongyi and other areas in Henan were also affected by floods.
On the morning of the 20th, Zhao Jianbiao, director of the Gongyi Meteorological Bureau, went to the municipal government to report on meteorological work. On the way back, he encountered heavy rain and was washed away by the water. He was not rescued until the afternoon. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured.
From 06:00 on July 19 to 15:00 on July 20, heavy rain and torrential rain occurred in Gongyi City, Zhengzhou, with local torrential rain. Many houses and walls collapsed in Gongyi City, 1 person died and 2 people were missing. The public security, fire department and local jurisdiction are organizing rescue. So far, a total of 1,102 households and 3,620 people have been relocated.
Please give Zhengzhou some time while the rescue is underway
When the day doesn't help, people have to work harder. In the face of the flood, people all over the country are cheering for the people of Henan, and the local people of Henan are uniting to save themselves.
Last night, many shopping malls and schools in Zhengzhou opened their doors to receive vehicles and pedestrians seeking shelter; all hotels in Zhengzhou not only did not raise their prices, but also reduced them. A netizen who could not return home reported that he was safe: "After wandering around for 3 hours, I finally found a hotel where I can rest."
The trapped subway passengers were also rescued one after another. Firefighting and emergency personnel went to the scene, and people walked along the flooded tracks and lined up for evacuation.
A mother and her two children were washed away by the flood, and a passing young man pulled the mother and her two children back without caring about his own safety; a woman was nearly washed away by the flood, and four volunteers rescued her with an advertising banner; a woman was walking in deep water and was pulled over by kind-hearted people; hard-core rescue operations were seen on the streets of Zhengzhou, with a bulldozer transporting citizens back and forth; citizens worked together to pull out people trapped in the heavy rain; several sailors were trapped on the road, and kind-hearted passers-by held hands and helped each other save people...
There are too many great actions by ordinary citizens that deserve our praise.
A symphony orchestra was trapped at Zhengzhou East Railway Station, and the children played "My Motherland and I". Yes, the motherland is always concerned about Henan. After the disaster, rescue teams from all over the country gathered urgently and rushed to the scene one after another.

At present, the rescue work is still in progress. Henan will definitely succeed!
