Lazada cooperates with police to seize more than 82,000 fake batteries

On May 18 this year , based on the clues from the police, the Thai police raided a private residence in Bangkok and found that the scene was a den for selling counterfeit goods online. On July 7 this year, the Thai police successfully investigated and dealt with Panasonic counterfeit batteries in Bangkok and recovered more than 82,000 fake batteries with Panasonic trademarks, with a total value of about RMB 560,000.

According to the police, Panasonic recently received a large number of reports and complaints from consumers, claiming that the Panasonic batteries they purchased online had serious quality problems, so Panasonic chose to call the police.

Then, the police pretended to be ordinary customers and placed an order with the online store involved in the case. When they received the goods, they traced the express information and finally found the warehouse where the goods were shipped. They caught the criminals red-handed at the scene.

As batteries are often classified as consumables, they are often overlooked as a product that can be counterfeited, but what is easily overlooked is that counterfeit batteries are highly dangerous and can cause serious damage to a variety of household appliances.

Mr. Julawut Kanaruk , Deputy Director of Panasonic Management (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said: "Panasonic has a zero-tolerance policy towards counterfeit products as they betray the trust of customers and thus damage the Panasonic brand. Our goal is to eliminate counterfeit sellers who target unsuspecting consumers. Panasonic is pleased to work with e-commerce platforms like Lazada who share common goals such as ensuring consumer protection."

Alan Chan, Group Chief Risk Officer at Lazada, said: “Lazada prides itself on being a trusted and safe platform for both consumers and sellers. Our Platform Governance team works tirelessly to uphold these high standards, working collaboratively with rights holders such as Panasonic and law enforcement agencies.”

Founded in 2012, Lazada Group is the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia. With the largest logistics and payment network in the region, it has become part of the daily life of consumers in the region.

If a company wants to last long, it must not cross the red line of regulations and must not deceive consumers with counterfeit products and damage its brand and reputation. Since 2016, Lazada has become the flagship platform in Southeast Asia supported by Alibaba Group with its world-class technology infrastructure.
