Home Depot opens three new distribution centers, boosts delivery capabilities

Home Depot , the largest home improvement retailer in the United States , announced today that it has opened three new distribution centers in Florida, ranging from West Palm Beach and Miami to Fort Myers.

Home Depot intends for these distribution centers to provide faster delivery options to customers in the South Florida area, and the company plans to open two more distribution centers in Miami in 2022. It is expected that these five facilities will create more than 150 new full-time and part-time jobs in South Florida .

“Our customers have different needs , from do-it-yourself home renovations to professional contractors on the job site,” said Kyle Dennis , vice president of supply chain development at The Home Depot . “These investments are helping us provide more convenient delivery times, locations and methods for our Pro and DIY customers in South Florida .

The new 332,000-square-foot Miami facility is designed to deliver large building materials and other oversized products directly to Home Depot's professional and DIY customers, while new distribution points in West Palm Beach and Fort Myers will expand the company's appliance distribution to customers in those markets .

Home Depot plans to open two additional facilities in Miami in 2022 , which will expand appliance distribution and same-day and next-day package delivery to customers in South Florida. In 2017, the company announced a $1.2 billion investment in its supply chain and is building its network to create about 150 new facilities in different formats across the country to meet the needs of different customers.

Home Depot , a U.S. home improvement specialty retailer, increased its sales by $21.9 billion to $132.1 billion in 2020, up 19.7% from fiscal 2019. And its digital sales are also climbing . Previously, Home Depot reported that the company's fourth-quarter digital sales surged 83% and increased 86% for the full year.

It can be seen that Home Depot is also taking various measures to improve the development of e-commerce. Moreover, at a time when e-commerce is developing so rapidly, the company is helping the growth and development of its online business by improving the supply chain and improving delivery capabilities.
