Tokopedia wedding product transaction volume increased fourfold in the second quarter

During the epidemic , there was a surge in consumers of some wedding supplies, such as souvenirs, decorations and other products . It is worth mentioning that the transaction volume in the wedding category increased nearly 4 times in the second quarter of 2021.


Ekhel Chandra Wijaya , senior director of external communications at Tokopedi, recently said: "Transactions in the wedding category on Tokopedia almost quadrupled in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year . "


Under the background of the epidemic, people's concept of marriage is also changing . In this wave of epidemic , the concept of intimate wedding trend has become the choice of most couples. When getting married, most couples choose to invite only their closest family or friends .

 

“Most couples only invite 30 people to the wedding and 60 to the reception , said Gisela Setyawan, senior director of the wedding business unit .

 

He continued : Wedding trends under the new normal have shortened the wedding planning cycle. According to Bridestory’s internal wedding industry data in 2020, approximately 31.51% of brides-to-be prepare for their weddings in less than three months.

In addition to the growth in wedding transactions on Tokopedia, transactions for other products such as souvenirs , gifts and decorations increased tenfold in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year .
