At the forum, Shopee focused on sharing how it, as a leading cross-border e-commerce platform, can leverage its "localization" advantage to promote the integration and innovation of cross-border e-commerce and trade in services. Coinciding with the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Shopee also discussed with the visiting leaders the direction of trade in services, and jointly sought cooperation between the government and enterprises to promote the long-term development of cross-border e-commerce.

Services trade welcomes new opportunities: Foreign trade in the 14th Five-Year Plan gets off to a good start, and China-ASEAN cross-border e-commerce is on the rise again


2021 is the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The first warm spring has seen the domestic economy pick up, and the foreign trade industry is in a more promising situation. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, the total value of China's import and export of goods in the first quarter reached 8.47 trillion yuan, up 29.2% from the same period last year; among them, cross-border e-commerce has continued to maintain its vitality in new formats and has become one of the main driving forces for the steady growth of foreign trade: this quarter, China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 419.5 billion yuan, up 46.5% year-on-year, and exports increased by 69.3% , outperforming the broader market.


During the same period, China - ASEAN trade once again became a highlight of foreign trade. According to the General Administration of Customs, in the first quarter, ASEAN continued to surpass the EU, the United States and Japan, and remained China's largest trading partner. China's exports to ASEAN reached 683.48 billion yuan, an increase of 27.7%. At the same time, the countries along the "Belt and Road" in the region (21.4%) and RCEP trading partners (22.9%) also maintained very strong import and export growth .


The good start of the 14th Five-Year Plan once again confirms the huge potential of China-Southeast Asia cross-border e-commerce. At the same time, it also puts forward higher quality requirements for the deepening service trade pattern between the region and important participants including Shopee.


Deepening the construction of trade in services: Shopee builds an overseas ecosystem to consolidate the foundation of cross-border services


Since its establishment, service trade has always been the focus of Shopee's construction. Based on the "localization" advantage, Shopee integrates resources and takes the lead in building a one-stop cross-border seller solution, providing full-link overseas support including traffic, logistics, incubation, language, payment, etc. As the focus of cross-border services, Shopee pays special attention to the construction of cross-border logistics and small language translation:


Shopee Logistics Service SLS: Shopee Logistics Service (SLS) was launched to cover eight major markets. Sellers can ship goods with ease and enjoy SPS door-to-door collection service. Currently, the price of SLS is 30% lower than the market price and can arrive in as fast as 3 days. Shopee's minority language solution: To help sellers solve the complex minority language issues in Southeast Asia, Shopee has launched a minority language intelligent machine translation service to help sellers achieve localized operations. Currently, the platform has provided language support including English, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Portuguese, and can provide sellers with minority language customer service translation and store product translation services.


Over the past five years, Shopee has witnessed more and more Chinese merchants flocking to Southeast Asia: from early cross-border players to domestic sellers, factory sellers, brand sellers, and sellers of emerging categories that emerged during the epidemic. Co-operation between government and enterprises: Shopee increases talent training to innovate cross-border services

So far, thousands of students from more than 30 colleges and universities, including Shanghai Science and Technology College and Yiwu Industrial and Commercial Vocational and Technical College, have successfully graduated through this project;


Professional e-commerce talent certification: Shopee launched the "Yanfan Plan" to provide sellers with systematic training courses by certifying high-quality training institutions and elite lecturers in the industry, helping sellers improve their operational professionalism. So far, the "Yanfan Plan" has certified more than 20 training institutions and more than 50 official lecturers;


Training of talents who are proficient in minority languages: To meet the industry's demand for talents who are familiar with local minority languages ​​as ASEAN trade deepens,        Shopee, in collaboration with the government of Nanning, Guangxi, hosted the China-ASEAN Foreign Language Anchor Competition in 2019 to tap into local high-quality minority language talent resources, incubate cross-border foreign language anchors, and help minority language talents go overseas.

In the second half of 2021, Shopee will host the first Shopee Cup-Cross-border E-commerce Innovation and Entrepreneurship Charity Competition, and plans to invite the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce for guidance.
