Amazon system misjudged the listing and the seller was overcharged
Recently, a seller asked for help on the forum because his newly listed listing was captured by Amazon and classified into the clothing category, but the product was not clothing.
The seller said that the main category of this product is Tools & Home Improvement, and the subcategory is not related to clothing, but Amazon still identified it as clothing. In addition, the Product Group of this product in Keepa is also displayed as Apparel.
The seller said that after this listing was incorrectly captured and classified, Amazon also charged him more commission and delivery fees. The seller said that the commission and delivery fees for this product were charged by Amazon according to the clothing category, and the commission was 17%. This is simply a big rip-off, which directly reduces the seller's profit.
In order to solve this problem, the seller contacted customer service and opened several cases, but none of them were resolved. The seller said that customer service only submitted major and minor category modifications for him, but the Product Group could not be changed.
Another seller said he had the same problem.
Some sellers said that it is difficult to change back to a low-commission category after being captured in a high-commission category. The reason is that some sellers put products in the wrong category to avoid high commissions . This abuse has made Amazon's management stricter, so even if the system really captured it wrong, it is difficult to change it back. The seller said that he tried to change the category for half a year before changing it back.
Some sellers also suggested that they could use the template to fill in the Feed Product Type to influence the Amazon system’s classification of products.
Malicious tampering of listings reappears, many sellers suffer
Listing problems do not only happen to domestic sellers. The editor searched the Internet and found that foreign sellers are also troubled by it.
Foreign seller A said that his listing was hacked and keywords of illegal drugs were added, causing the listing to be deactivated.
Foreign seller B also stated that one of his probiotic products was also maliciously tampered with, causing the listing to be marked as a chemical testing device by the system and deactivated.
The seller contacted customer service three times and submitted the materials, but was told that they didn’t know the reason and could do nothing about it.
The problem of listings being maliciously tampered with has existed for a long time. Some sellers are angry that Amazon has not yet fixed this bug. Is "fraud" Amazon's top priority?
