For sellers, there are three main ways to market on TikTok : --Create your own channel and upload videos through your own channel --Work with influencers to spread content to a wider audience --Paid advertising on TikTok (advertising on TikTok is still in its early stages) In terms of content, hashtag challenges are an essential feature of the TikTok community . TikTok users love challenges and create and upload videos accordingly. These challenges usually come with hashtag names, which are both memorable and easy to discover, which is also a point that sellers can pay more attention to. According to TikTok, a third of its users now participate in branded hashtag challenges , which are often sponsored by brands and companies to increase their visibility and recognition . Recent research from Mediakix found that branded hashtag challenges generated an average of 6.1 billion views , with Samsung’s #VideoSnapChallenge being the largest challenge to date with around 27 billion views. The average duration of a sponsored banner on TikTok’s Discover page is 3 to 4 days. An average of 14 brands advertise on TikTok each month through branded hashtag challenges. The analysis found that the industry category that most frequently uses brand hashtag challenges to advertise on apps is food and beverage , accounting for 20%. In addition, there are entertainment (18%), beauty (15%) and fashion (14%). Consumer goods and technology categories also account for 7% each .
In addition, the study also found that among the brands that advertise on TikTok, about 11% of them do not have a formal user account on TikTok . What’s more , 84% of brands that advertised using branded hashtag challenges on TikTok posted fewer than 100 videos. As a result, brands often work with between 1 and 25 influencers . Of the 540 influencers surveyed , 68 % are super influencers with more than 1 million followers, and 16% are mid-level influencers. In summary, brand hashtag challenges are widely spread on TikTok.
