Recently, Bem Research conducted an analysis based on Google Trends and a survey of 1,500 people and found that Italians prefer to buy better products rather than affordable and cheap products. Google search trends show that searches for "best" and "better" ( 100 companies ) are much more common than searches for economy ( 20 companies ) .
It is reported that by December 2021 , searches for "better, best", etc. are expected to exceed 500%. The survey showed that Italians like to search online for products or services of “better quality”, highlighting people ’s expectation to find relevant content on product pages .
In the answers to questions about product quality , the presence of positive reviews was 42.79%, the comparison with other similar products or services was 31.29 % , and the presence of the word "best" in the text was 2.29%.
The study also analyzed the most frequent online searches related to the term “ best ” across three macro categories: food , appliances , beauty, and health.
In the food category, pizza ranked first , followed by kebabs and hamburgers . People want to know where to buy the best products , and can filter online by selecting, for example, city or neighborhood .
In the category of household appliances , first people want to find the best vacuum cleaner, but also the best coffee machine (for pods or capsules).
When it comes to beauty and wellness, the first thing to tackle is finding the best hair care products, followed by the best products for fighting wrinkles, such as fighting fat particles and wrinkles, the best makeup products, and the best supplements and vitamins.
From the analysis conducted by Bem Research , it is clear that people are not satisfied with simply reading the word “best” in the search results, but go deeper into the actual quality of the product or service based on the actual situation , showing the results of studies with different objective parameters .
In fact, people pay attention to existential factors like online reviews and therefore rely on people who have had similar purchasing experiences. In most quality assessment parameters of a product or service, both men and women seek comprehensive online reviews.
