Passionate consumption increases, and clothing becomes the first choice for shopping after the lockdown

 

Of these post-lockdown spending , 76% were related to passion or hobbies . People are prone to passionate spending after the lockdown, with a lot of revenge purchases. Some products that were very popular during the lockdown , such as home improvement and gardening products , continue to benefit.

 

A quarter of shoppers said they were looking forward to having a big meal once lockdown is lifted , while 29% said they wanted to celebrate life returning to normal.

 

This will drive a significant increase in spending as shoppers flock to update their summer wardrobes, according to new research from Ebay Ads UK .

 

More than one in five shoppers said they planned to prioritise buying new clothes once lockdown was lifted , with another one in five saying they had more disposable income to spend than before lockdown .

 

More than a fifth of 16 to 24-year-olds and those aged over 55 said they returned to bars , nightclubs and more after the lockdown , a trend that is expected to further boost demand for new clothing .
