BigCommerce partners with Chargebee to grow subscription e-commerce

A subscription business is a business model that allows users to order recurring products or services they need. Subscription-based e-commerce can strengthen customer relationships and significantly increase customer lifetime value.

At the beginning of the epidemic, there were reports of a surge in demand for subscription businesses in industries such as food and beverage and education. Shopify's survey of merchants showed that 63% of sellers engaged in subscription businesses were satisfied with the company's performance in 2020.

The global subscription e-commerce market is expected to reach $ 478 billion by 2025, according to UnivDatos Market Insights .

However, the booming development of subscription e-commerce has also exposed existing problems in this market: existing renewal payment and subscription management systems cannot adapt or expand, and are expensive and time-consuming to maintain; at the same time, out-of-the-box solutions are too limited in terms of payment gateways and system integration.

Recently, SaaS e-commerce platform BigCommerce has reached a cooperation with leading subscription management platform Chargebee to develop e-commerce based on subscription business . Partners also include automated tax compliance software Avalara.

Chargebee automates revenue operations for high-growth subscription-based businesses , while BigCommerce is a SaaS e -commerce platform for fast-growing and established brands .

Chargebee's partnership with BigCommerce helps merchants avoid expensive development work while providing consumers with maximum payment flexibility , personalization, and excellent customer support. Through the partnership, sellers on the BigCommerce platform can more easily leverage Chargebee's powerful subscription infrastructure to promote the development of subscription businesses .

“Our comprehensive and flexible e-commerce subscription solution focuses resources on building the best end-to-end customer experience and works seamlessly with leading e-commerce platforms to enable businesses to maximize revenue and growth,” said Krish Subramanian, co-founder and CEO of Chargebee. “Merchants can offer the right subscription model , products, and payment options, and adapt as consumer needs and preferences evolve.

Greg Chapman, senior vice president of business development at Avalara, added: “ Companies adopting subscription e-commerce face significant sales tax compliance risks. We are working with Chargebee to help merchants of all kinds benefit from the booming subscription e-commerce market while reducing sales tax risks associated with recurring billing.
