The landscaping market is worth $100 billion, and the U.S. may usher in the year of the yard

After experiencing the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, more and more people have realized the importance of staying healthy and happy. While decorating their indoor spaces, Americans have also begun to extend their attention to improving their outdoor spaces to make up for their well-being.

The US landscaping market is worth $100 billion

Due to the pandemic, for a long time, the yard of one’s home was the only green space that many people could access. However, survey data shows that about 88% of Americans are dissatisfied with their indoor and outdoor spaces . They believe that outdoor spaces lack style ( 66%), functionality (56%) and comfort (45%), and cannot meet their practical needs for relaxation and socializing.

This prompted 78% of Americans to renovate their outdoor living areas in 2020. This year, 58 % of Americans plan to buy new outdoor furniture and accessories to increase the decorativeness and functionality of their outdoor spaces. This may also be one of the major reasons why the US furniture market is in serious shortage and its orders are generally delayed by 5-9 months.

In addition, relevant data show that the size of the US landscaping market has reached 100 billion US dollars, and this does not include furniture products. In fact, not only in the United States, but also in the world, outdoor living projects have a very large growth space, which can also be said to be a potential market to be developed.

These outdoor products may see explosive sales in 2021

Survey data shows that Americans plan to buy more outdoor items in 2021, including stoves ( 35%) , grills ( 35%) , lounges and recliners ( 34%) , lighting ( 34%) , dining tables and chairs ( 28%) , umbrellas ( 25%) and sofa sets (19%) .

These decorations and improvements will not only make their outdoor spaces more pleasant and practical, but will also enable people to live outdoors. In addition, some Americans plan to expand their children's playgrounds and will choose to purchase play equipment that adapts to the natural terrain of their outdoor places to meet the needs of their children's play. Some Americans also said they will purchase hardy native plants to maintain the health of their home ecosystems.

In fact, the boundaries between indoor and outdoor are becoming increasingly blurred, and more and more people regard their yards as their second activity venues. Therefore, outdoor decoration is also a potential market that sellers need to focus on. It is worth noting that comfortable and durable decorative products will be more popular with consumers.
