Physical brands turn to e-commerce, and India's e-commerce economy is booming

According to foreign media reports, in order to promote product sales , Indian clothing brand company Khadi Board plans to use online and e-commerce platforms . Its CEO Jayavibhav Swamy said that the matter will be discussed at the upcoming board meeting, and the company may cooperate with e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon.in to sell products.

The transition from offline stores to online sales is a new trend and fashion in the development of Indian physical businesses in recent years.

According to the latest demographic data, India has a total population of 1.37 billion. As of December 2020, there are approximately 1.15 billion mobile phone users in India, and approximately 775 million people use or have used the Internet. The rapid popularization of mobile Internet has paved the way for the development of e-commerce in India, and also laid the foundation for physical stores to shift to online sales.

The ravages of the novel coronavirus have accelerated the transformation of the real economy. In 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, most physical enterprises and factories in India were shut down, and India's real economy was hit hard. Many offline stores were in trouble. On the contrary, India's e-commerce industry rose against the trend and developed rapidly, becoming the only industry in India to experience substantial growth in 2020.

As the epidemic continues, physical businesses that are finding it increasingly difficult to operate have begun to consider expanding their sales channels. A large number of physical brands have turned to the online platform and have begun cooperating with major e-commerce platforms to sell products through these platforms. In addition, brands will also sell through their own official websites or other online channels.

The transformation of physical enterprises to online platforms also reflects that India's e-commerce environment has quietly changed and the Indian market is becoming more attractive.

The epidemic has acted as a catalyst and has greatly changed the consumption patterns of the Indian people. Online shopping is becoming an important way of life for the Indian people. With the increase in the frequency of online shopping, the online shopping behavior of the Indian people has become more rational. Consumption behaviors based on impulse purchases have been greatly reduced, and the high return rate caused by this has also been declining.

In addition, in order to speed up the recovery of the domestic economy, the Indian government has also relaxed some restrictive policies on China, and the trade environment between China and India is becoming more friendly.
