Russian e-commerce knocks on the door of the EU, Wildberries is listed in France, Italy and Spain

Foreign media reported that Russian e-commerce company Wildberries has launched dedicated e-commerce websites in France, Italy and Spain.

 

The company said in a statement to The Moscow Times that it has begun selling in France, Italy and Spain. Together with Wildberries' previous expansion in Germany and other places, this means that Wildberries now has a presence in the four major consumer markets in the European Union.

 

Since Wildberries was launched in Germany, Wildberries has officially entered the European market. On January 15, Wildberries was launched in Germany, marking Wildberries as the first major e-commerce country in Europe to open the door to e-commerce. Previously, it was also launched in Poland and other Eastern European markets.

 

Now, the Russian e-commerce giant has launched Wildberries.fr in France , it.wildberries.eu in Italy, and Wildberries.es in Spain, gradually expanding its business footprint to more European countries, where customers can order through dedicated e-commerce websites using iOS or Android applications.

 

The website and app are both run in the local languages ​​of these European countries , and Wildberries currently offers about 4 million SKUs from about 40,000 brands, and has announced that it will offer more diverse products in the future. Customers in these countries can now order fashion, accessories, consumer electronics, books, beauty supplies, auto parts, pet supplies, and more through Wildberries.

 

Analysts say Russia's online retail industry is growing rapidly and the trend has been developing for several years, but Russia's e-commerce market currently lacks a dominant player such as Amazon in the United States and Alibaba in China, so Russian companies are still investing heavily in the e-commerce field to win customers and compete for status.

 

Wildberries controls about 13% of Russia's e-commerce market, more than double that of rival Ozon and other Russian companies, according to Data Insight.

 

“Currently, Wildberries operates in 13 countries, including Russia, Germany, Poland, Israel, Slovakia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and many others,” said Vyacheslav Ivashchenko, Director of Development at Wildberries. “We offer our customers a wide range of goods from all major manufacturers, including well-known global brands and small local businesses, and we are willing to cooperate with entrepreneurs from all countries.”
