The news that "old Amazon accounts require video verification and will be blocked if no action is taken within 7 days" is true!
Amazon has spared no effort to verify the identity of sellers. Among them, its common tricks include: address verification, phone verification, postcard verification, and video verification, and among them, video verification is the most troublesome for sellers.
Since February, many sellers have reported that their old accounts received video verification emails, indicating that if the seller does not take action within 7 days, the account will be blocked.
For a time, people were in panic and had different opinions: some said that this was a phishing email and it should be ignored; some said that they had confirmed it with customer service and the customer service said it was true; but some others said that they had also confirmed it with customer service and the customer service said it was false.
A large number of sellers received Amazon video verification emails
Recently, many sellers reported that they received the following email from Amazon:
The email content indicates that in order to protect the security of the account, Amazon requires sellers to verify their identity in order to continue selling on Amazon. Sellers need to make an appointment with Amazon staff for a real-time video call and present their original ID and the company's business license (if applicable) during the video call. The video call is expected to take 20 minutes. Sellers can choose the date and time they want to make the video call to complete the appointment, but can only choose up to three time periods.
The email emphasized that if the seller does not make an appointment within 7 days of receiving the email , the identity review will fail and the account will not be able to sell on Amazon. The email address is: [email protected] (pay attention to this address)
After reading the entire email, it actually expresses one meaning: if the seller who receives the video verification email does not take action within 7 days, his account will be blocked!
Judging from the feedback from sellers in recent days, most of the accounts affected were purchased . Sellers on the European site received more such emails, while sellers on the US site received fewer . However, the possibility of a large-scale sweep of sellers on the US site cannot be ruled out.
In fact, as early as early February, a seller reported to Een.com that he had received a video verification email from Amazon, and wanted to verify the authenticity of the incident. However, because there were different statements from all parties at the time, and there was no case of "sellers who have been banned" to support it, there was no tweet specifically and systematically talking about this matter.
Now, after verification from multiple sources, this matter has been concluded.
A seller did not verify the product through video and has been suspended and is undergoing a second review
After receiving the email, the first thing the sellers did was to verify the authenticity of the email. Interestingly, there are different opinions about the authenticity of the email.
The following evidence suggests that it is a forgery:
1. A seller asked Amazon customer service about this matter, and the customer service told the seller that this email might be a phishing email, and if there is a problem with the account, there will be a performance notification. (Many sellers say that the customer service is a robot, which is not very credible.)
(The above screenshots were sent by a service provider, and perhaps even the service provider didn’t understand the truth of the matter)
2. This email is entirely in Chinese, and the link in the email does not look like it is from Amazon.
3. Although the problem is very serious, the sellers who received the email are still a small group, and some sellers suspect that it is unlikely to be sent by the official.
However, regarding the authenticity of the email, the investment manager said that this situation does occur and Amazon officials do want to do video verification.
At the same time, some sellers asked the customer service, and the customer service also informed them that it was indeed an official email and it was real.
That's very strange. Some customer service said it was fake, some said it was real, some sellers said it was phishing, and some sellers said it must be verified. Could it be a Rashomon incident? ?
The matter is not that complicated. Today, I asked a seller who received the same email in early February. The email address was also [email protected] (this email address is very important, please pay attention to it again.)
The seller received the above-mentioned video verification email around February 3, but all accounts that did not undergo video verification before the New Year were reviewed and stopped from selling. The account was purchased, but it has been operating normally. The account time was around mid-2019, and a large proportion of people received this email.
The seller also said that two accounts were verified two days ago, but there is still no result.
To sum up the situation encountered by this seller is that his products were suspended because he did not verify within the specified time, and then he received a second review email asking him to provide water and electricity bills.
You should know that video verification requires a business license and a legal person's ID card. If a non-legal person participates in video verification, he or she still needs to hold the original ID card of the legal person. However, the biggest problem is that it is difficult to find the original copy of the purchased account.
Some sellers said that they could not contact the legal representative of the old account they bought. Does that mean they can only move the account and give up the account?
The service provider also provides related services. The service provider told the editor that the cost of this service is 3,200 yuan, which requires vps, ssfz photos, business license photos and appointment time, and the pass rate is 95%.
In addition, some sellers said that the video verification they had done before was relatively simple. They just needed to bring their business license and ID card. The other party would ask them to hold them up and did not ask any messy questions.
The point is, does this wave of verification emails contain phishing emails?
Sellers should note that although the verification email sent from [email protected] is authentic, there may be someone taking advantage of the situation and sending some phishing emails to sellers. Sellers must be sure to identify the sender address above. Remember, the suffix is @amazon.com.
When you receive this type of email, you must identify it carefully and don't click on it directly. It's best not to click on it to make an appointment without knowing anything, in case you are not prepared.
Video verification sellers need to make these preparations
Since sellers cannot escape video verification, adequate preparation is necessary. After all, complete information will help to pass the verification in one go and can also reduce unnecessary troubles later.
So what materials are needed for Amazon video verification?
1. Original Chinese citizen ID card or passport. 2. Paper version of business license. The name of the legal representative should be shown on the business license, which should be consistent with the name on the ID card. What is the video verification appointment and confirmation process?
Step 1: After receiving the Amazon video verification email, the seller needs to make an appointment for video verification as required; Step 2: It is recommended to choose Chinese as the appointment time. After the appointment is made, please pay attention to whether you have received the video verification operation guidance email in your mailbox; Step 3: Download the Amazon Chime software on your phone or computer according to the instructions in the email . You can also use the web version. Open the software or go to the corresponding web version website and enter the meeting number provided in the email. Prepare the relevant information and complete the verification. In addition, during the verification process, sellers need to pay attention to the following: 1. When verifying an ID card , the seller should show the front and back of the ID card to the other party facing the camera; 2. When verifying a business license , the seller should look at the front and back of the business license from top to bottom, left to right, and right to the camera. In addition, regarding the video verification of individual sellers leaving the country, many of them will have this question: If there are multiple shareholders, does everyone need to leave the country? Regarding this point, sellers need to note that video verification must be performed by a legal person or an authorized representative . During the video process, the other party will take photos and screenshots, and verify whether your account information is consistent with the background information . policy |
