"Made in China" was implicated again, this company was caught by Korean customs

Under the influence of the epidemic, Korean citizens are paying more and more attention to the safety of various daily products and infant products.

Daegu Customs announced on the 25th that it had arrested an illegal import company that sold 15 million handkerchiefs made in China (without labels or domestic conversion) between April 2014 and September last year, in violation of South Korea's Foreign Trade Act and Customs Act.

Of the 15 million handkerchiefs made in China, most were gauze handkerchiefs for infants and young children, amounting to 12.7 million pieces. It was also revealed that they were illegally brought in without safety confirmation as required by the Special Children's Product Safety Act.

Daegu Customs said that since October last year , due to the increase in domestic production costs and the increase in public demand, the prices of domestic handkerchiefs and baby products have continued to rise, and the cheap Chinese-made handkerchiefs are likely to be changed . Therefore, the Korean Customs launched an investigation and eventually seized the company.

According to Korean Customs, the company illegally imported Chinese-made handkerchiefs into South Korea , removed the Chinese-made stickers in a secret warehouse in South Korea , and circulated some of them without marks of origin, while selling the other parts on the market with false marks indicating that they were made in South Korea .

In particular, gauze handkerchiefs for infants and young children , which are subject to safety verification , are usually declared as regular wet wipes to avoid the customs surveillance network. It has been confirmed that these handkerchiefs are sold and circulated through online shopping malls and regular markets after filling in false safety verification numbers .

The company has been detained by Daegu Customs, which plans to impose a fine on the portion of sales that have already been completed and will file a lawsuit against the company through the procuratorate.

The Korean Customs said that in order to establish a fair circulation order and protect consumers, it plans to continue to crack down on violations of origin indicators, especially focusing on items that are directly related to the safety of national life. As honest sellers, you should also pay more attention to related matters to avoid being implicated and affected.
