eBay and Haryana state e-commerce cooperation memorandum to seize the Indian market

According to foreign media reports, eBay has recently signed a memorandum of understanding on e-commerce cooperation with the MSME (small and medium enterprises) government department of Haryana, India . After this, small and medium-sized enterprises in Haryana, India will be able to sell in 190 international markets around the world through the eBay platform.

Under the MoU, eBay will provide pricing and other benefits to the state under special schemes. In addition, eBay will conduct training programmes, webinars and workshops for local small and medium-sized enterprises in the textile and automotive components industries to help the state's vision of balancing regional development and promoting exports.

“The seminars will focus on providing the necessary knowledge and skills on all aspects of online retail including listing products online, shipping policies and product descriptions to transact with a global audience,” the statement said.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dushyant Chautala , Deputy CM and Chief Minister, Government of Haryana said that the move will create unprecedented opportunities for new entrepreneurs besides increasing sales for existing entrepreneurs: “Our government is committed to promoting entrepreneurship and fostering inclusive and balanced regional development in the state. This strategic collaboration will help MSMEs, artisans in remote areas of the state overcome challenges that restrict their access to national and international markets.”

Dushyant Chautala also said the scheme would significantly increase the visibility of Haryana and local specialty products - both industrial products and traditional handicrafts.

Vidmay Naini, Country Manager, eBay India, said that as a true marketplace, eBay is committed to supporting MSMEs and artisans from the Indian market. The association will seek to educate and train Haryana small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to start and expand their businesses on the eBay marketplace through structured programs.

In fact, e-commerce has indeed provided considerable help to India's small and medium-sized enterprises. According to Amazon 's 2020 SME Impact Report, 4,125 Indian sellers achieved sales of more than 10 million rupees in 2020.

The continued expansion of India's e-commerce market has attracted a lot of attention. In fact, India's e-commerce still has great potential to be tapped, attracting many e-commerce giants to make arrangements here. Through this cooperation, eBay will also further expand its sphere of influence in the Indian e-commerce market.
