Malaysia extends lockdown in four regions

Today, many overseas countries are still in a state of emergency due to epidemic prevention and control, and Malaysia is no exception.

Previously, multiple lockdown notices issued by Malaysia indicated that control measures would be relaxed in accordance with the COVID-19 epidemic.

However, while the number of new cases continues to decline in most parts of the country, the epidemic situation in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor , Johor and Penang has not improved.

Recently, the Malaysian government announced that the movement restriction order in the above areas, which was originally scheduled to end on February 18, will be extended for another two weeks until March 4!

It is understood that Malaysia has relaxed various controls, for example, allowing more than two people to dine at each table in restaurants, and more than two people will be allowed to travel in a car depending on the number of passengers.

When Malaysia first implemented a movement control order last year, almost all economic activities were halted except for essential services including food and beverage stores and pharmacies.

Now it seems that the relaxation of these flexible measures is also a good sign. Of course, some sellers have seized some opportunities for explosive orders during the lockdown since 2021.

During the lockdown, Malaysia's stay-at-home economy exploded

Data shows that sales of smartphones and tablets in Malaysia have been increasing since January 2021 .

This is mainly due to the need for students to take online classes under the movement control order, which has also led to a surge in parents' demand for cost-effective second-hand devices.

According to statistics, due to the closure of physical stores, most consumers often ask the following questions when purchasing electronic products online

“Is there a cheaper option?”

"How much storage space is available on this device?"

“Do you accept trade-ins?”

Since the prices of electronic products are within a controllable range, consumers are more purposeful when purchasing. Moreover, in this retail environment, competition among online platforms is also more intense.

Shopee said in a recent statement that many consumers have been looking for bundle deals or add-on deals on the platform to get more savings .

Shopee also said that especially since the 2021 Movement Control Order, products such as laptops , smartphones , tablets , network components , keyboards , printers and audio systems sold more than 550,000 units in the first five days of the restriction .

The 2020 epidemic has given rise to the outbreak of various home-based economies and TA economies. Sellers can also learn more about local policies and consumption trends when selecting products and make appropriate adjustments.
