Sally Beauty, a Denton, Texas-based retailer that specializes in hair care and hair color services for consumers and professionals, said on Thursday that hair color sales in the United States and Canada grew 19% in the quarter ended December compared with a year ago .
Among them, bright dyes such as pink, purple, blue and green have increased by 50% compared with a year ago . And this trend has been around for some time.
“The trend toward vivid colors started long before the pandemic,” Sally Beauty Chief Executive Officer Christian Brickman told analysts on Thursday.

E-commerce sales increased by 48%
Sally Beauty reported a 3.7% drop in same-store sales in the quarter ended Dec. 31, reflecting temporary store closures and salon closures in California and other markets due to the pandemic.
Sally Beauty's total sales fell 4.5% to $936 million from $980.2 million, but profits rose 7.5% to $57.2 million, or 50 cents per share, from $53.2 million, or 45 cents per share, a year earlier.
And during this period, Sally Beauty's e-commerce sales increased 48% from a year ago. Digital business, including online purchase/in-store pickup, helped Sally Beauty resist the negative impact of the epidemic in the first quarter.
