Japan: A traditional "seal society"!

Japan: A traditional "seal society"!

As a unique historical and cultural product of China, seals are rarely seen in China today. Except for some seals required for regular corporate documents, they are rarely seen in daily life! However, this product originated from China, but has become a daily necessity in Japan !

Many people have heard this saying, "As long as you live in Japan, you can't live without seals from cradle to grave." In fact, this saying is not an exaggeration at all, because Japan is a "seal society"!

In Japan, seals are an indispensable necessity for the Japanese people not only in administrative procedures and corporate documents, but also in various trivial daily life such as receiving and mailing, reading and confirming documents!

In Japan, seals are not just a formality, but are also given legal effect! Japan is also the only country that insists on the seal system. It requires companies and individuals to use seals instead of signatures on documents, and different seals are required according to the occasion and the object.

There are generally four types of seals in Japan : recognition seal, real seal , bank seal, and the more popular pain seal.

Seal recognition ( frequently used ) : refers to all seals that have not been registered , generally used in less serious occasions. It is often used in occasions such as school attendance and signing for express delivery , which is equivalent to signing .

Size: Male 12mm; Female 10.5mm.

Engraving content: Surname.

Traditional : Seal script, auspicious script

Simplified: Ancient seal script, running script, official script, regular script

Jishiyin (実印, moderately used): Jishiyin requires residents to register their seals with the municipality where they live , so it is generally used in formal occasions, such as signing work contracts, buying insurance, renting a house, buying a mobile phone card, etc.

Size: Male 15mm~18mm; Female 13.5mm~15.0mm.

The most commonly printed font in Japan is Kissho-ti because it reduces the possibility of being counterfeited.

At the same time, Shiyin also recommends fonts such as regular script, official script, traditional Chinese, and ancient seal script.

Bank seal (less frequently used): Bank seal is mostly used for financial transactions and is an extremely important seal. If there is not much financial activity, you can use a real seal instead of a bank seal!

Size: Male 13.5mm~15mm; Female 12mm~13.5mm.

When the simplified and traditional characters of a name are the same: seal script, auspicious script, ancient seal script

When the simplified and traditional Chinese names are inconsistent: Simplified Chinese should be in regular script, running script or official script. (Same as in the passport)

Pain seal: In addition to the three commonly used seals mentioned above, pain seal is also popular in Japan.

In simple terms, individuals can create their own unique stamps according to their preferences, such as anime and various interesting illustrations. Moreover, this kind of stamp has now been given the function of identity recognition and can be used in banks!

Japan is a country that pays great attention to following rules, so stamping is so deeply rooted in Japanese society. Perhaps this is due to culture .

Japan's seal culture has naturally given rise to a strong demand for seals. Faced with the current trend of popular online shopping, sellers can also pay attention to this market.
