Indonesian unicorn Gojek invests in LinkAja to boost adoption of digital financial services

LinkAja’s CEO said that joining as a strategic shareholder will allow Gojek to enter LinkAja ’s ecosystem and provide a way for LinkAja to accelerate the development of financial inclusion in Indonesia .


It is understood that currently, the LinkAja platform mainly focuses on payments for retail purchases , public services and daily necessities, and 80% of its users are from secondary and tertiary cities in Indonesia .


At the same time, Gojek's digital payment services through GoPay meet the needs of Indonesia's retail and commercial sectors, especially micro , small and medium enterprises ( MSMEs), as well as daily necessities services on the Gojek platform.


Gojek co-CEO Andre Soelistyo said Gojek Group is focused on supporting everyone in Indonesia to enjoy the benefits of the digital economy , and its mission is to increase financial inclusion by providing the widest possible range of financial services to the public.


Following the completion of the transaction, the two companies aim to promote the adoption of comprehensive financial and digital financial services in Indonesia. As such, LinkAja will expand payment options for certain services on the GoJek app in Indonesia.

Early last year , startup giant Grab also joined LinkAja’s Series B round. Currently, LinkAja’s e-wallet has attracted 56 million users.


As two leading Indonesian unicorns , this collaboration combines both parties ’ technological strengths and extensive reach, and provides an opportunity to work together to increase the use of non-cash payments, making online shopping more enjoyable for millions of consumers.
