About CIMB Group

  • CIMB Group, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, provides personal banking, commercial banking, investment banking, Islamic banking and asset management products and services. It is the fifth largest banking group in ASEAN by assets, with approximately 33,000 employees and more than 19 million customers as of the end of September 2022.
  • It is the second largest bank in Malaysia and is headed by Nazir Razak, the younger brother of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. CIMB Holdings' profits mainly come from investment banking and the Treasury Division. The investment bank mainly engages in securities-related and corporate financing businesses, while the bank's treasury division focuses on currency trading. CIMB Securities Bank, a subsidiary of CIMB, has always been a leader in Malaysia's investment and securities banks. Most of the major corporate mergers and acquisitions in the country are handled by CIMB Securities. The merger of Sime Darby, Guthrie and Golden Hope into Synergy Drive was handled by CIMB. CIMB Bank has 32,000 employees in Southeast Asian countries, with CIMB Islamic Bank in the Middle East and representative offices in Shanghai, New York and London.
  • CIMB Group operates several corporate entities, including: CIMB Investment Bank, CIMB Bank, CIMB Islamic, CIMB Niaga, CIMB Securities and CIMB Thailand. The group's operating activities are mainly consumer banking, wholesale banking, investment banking and corporate banking, treasury and markets, group strategy and strategic investments. Its core markets are Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
  • CIMB Group Holdings Berhad has been listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia since 1987, with a market capitalisation of RM53.7 billion as of 30 September 2022. Total assets were RM672.4 billion, total shareholders' funds were RM61.9 billion and total Islamic assets were RM176 billion as of 30 September 2022. Major shareholders as of end-September 2022 are Khazanah Nasional Berhad (24.5%), Employees Provident Fund (14.3%) and Kunpuran Wang Pesaraan (Dipper Batangkan) with 6.3%.
