Recently, a seller discovered that a product under a certain brand looked a little strange, as if there was something fishy going on.

 

According to the seller's message on the forum, he saw a very "magical" product while browsing Amazon. The crossed-out price was ridiculously high, but strangely, the link had never been sold at this price.

 

Judging from the screenshots provided by the seller, the market price ( list price) of one of the brand's products is as high as US$999, but the current selling price is only over US$100, with a discount of up to 87%!

 

 

Using the ASIN code provided by the seller , Yien.com searched for this product on Amazon.

 

Its product information shows that the product is a metal detector with sales of over 500 in the past month , and ranked first on the BS list in the relevant category.

 

The information also shows that this metal detector has a total of 5 different color variants, among which the best-selling one is black & green, with sales of more than 1,000 in the past month, and the monthly sales of the other models range from 100 to 500.

 

In the BS list of metal detectors , it can be found that although this product ranks first on the list, it has no obvious advantages over other competing products in terms of the number of reviews and price.

 

 

When clicking into its brand store, Yien.com found that there was only this product in the store, and the others were all variants of other colors derived from this product.

 

Judging from the various data of this link, its performance is not very impressive, and can even be said to be very ordinary. Under such circumstances, it is indeed surprising that it can still rank first on the BS list.

 

Some industry insiders believe that the fact that this metal detector ranked first on the BS list in the category may be closely related to its ridiculously high cross-out price.

 

How is the super high strike-out price achieved?

 

Some sellers analyzed that although such a high strike-through price seems a bit outrageous, it is not completely impossible to achieve. According to Amazon's rules, the market price ( list price) can only appear if someone has purchased the product at this price in the past 90 days, even if there is only one order.

 

Under this premise, as long as at least one order is sold at this price, this exaggerated strike-through price will be displayed. However, after searching through tools, some sellers found that this product has no historical record of being sold at a high price.
