Guangzhou and Shenzhen have long been gathering places for Amazon sellers. According to Juozas research data, Guangdong Province is the province with the largest number of Amazon sellers in China, accounting for 40.3% of the total number of sellers in China. With the maturity of the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem, Amazon seller gathering places have begun to expand to other regions. Shanxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Henan, Hubei and other places have gathered a large number of seller groups.
The continuous expansion of sellers is inseparable from Amazon's nationwide layout. Before May this year, Amazon already had 10 offices across the country. On May 10, Amazon added a new office in Zhengzhou, and on May 15, the Wuhan office was announced to be put into use, which shows Amazon's determination to invest heavily in central China. The establishment of two offices in central China will magnify the advantages of sellers and industrial belts in central China, and drive more companies to cultivate well-known overseas brands.
Amazon expands into central China for the first time, setting up offices in Zhengzhou and Wuhan
It is understood that Amazon began to deploy in the Chinese region for the first time this year, investing in the central cities of Zhengzhou and Wuhan, reflecting Amazon's strategic attention to this region.
The Zhengzhou office is the first office of Amazon Global Store in Central China, and is also an important step for Amazon to deepen its local layout and continuously improve its local service system. The Zhengzhou office will radiate Xuchang, Luoyang, Nanyang, Shangqiu, Jiaozuo, and many surrounding cities. Through the development of export cross-border e-commerce service ecology, deep cultivation of Henan's characteristic industrial belts, and deepening of seller education and services, it will promote the transformation of traditional enterprises into export cross-border e-commerce and help the deep integration of cross-border e-commerce and local industrial belts.
The Wuhan office is another key layout of Amazon Global Store in Central China after the opening of the Zhengzhou office, which indicates that it will further strengthen its local service capabilities in the region and expand its coverage. The Wuhan office will focus on promoting the concept of cross-border e-commerce transformation, tapping the potential of characteristic industrial belts, promoting communication and exchanges within and outside the region, improving the seller service system, creating well-known overseas brands, and cultivating cross-border e-commerce talents.
Song Xiaojun, vice president of Amazon China and head of Amazon Global Selling's Chinese seller development, said that in fact, when we set up the office, we take many factors into consideration, such as the scale of local traditional foreign trade, the foundation of the local industrial belt, the maturity of the local service provider system, and the degree of government attention.
After balancing these factors, we selected the cities with the most potential for layout. We believe that the opportunities in Central China are very large, so we adopted this dual-office model. The industrial belts covered by these two cities are different. For example, Henan has a typical wig industry belt, while Hubei has high-tech, optoelectronics, life and health, etc. This will also make some differences in the capabilities of local teams in the future, but the models we use are basically the same, digging deep into the industrial belt and building a complete supplier service system.
Zhengzhou and Wuhan have advantages that cannot be ignored
As representatives chosen by Amazon, Zhengzhou and Wuhan’s various advantages in developing local cross-border e-commerce are also important factors that cannot be ignored.
As for Zhengzhou, its advantages are obvious. First, in the past, Henan's cross-border e-commerce has grown rapidly. Last year, Henan's cross-border e-commerce import and export transaction volume reached 237.1 billion, which is a huge volume, and the growth rate reached 7.3%.
Secondly, Henan has a very good industrial belt foundation, and some of its industrial belts are far ahead in the world. For example, the wigs from Xuchang, which are familiar to everyone, are not only sold well in China, but also popular overseas. Henan has 40 major categories of industrial products, and there are huge opportunities for the development of cross-border e-commerce in the future.
Again, Henan has already seen the emergence of some leading sellers. For example, Zhiou Home Furnishing is the first company in Henan to be listed as a cross-border e-commerce company. These sellers are like leading geese, able to lead the development of the industry.
Finally, there is support from the government and policies. Henan Province has issued a special 14th Five-Year Plan for e-commerce and some measures to promote the construction of overseas warehouses. Zhengzhou issued two policies last year, including measures to promote the development of cross-border e-commerce and other actions.
Amazon used to support sellers remotely, but now it hopes to have a full-featured team in the Zhengzhou office. This team will support the development of sellers in all links and links of cross-border e-commerce. In the future, Amazon Zhengzhou Office will deepen the understanding of cross-border e-commerce by Henan sellers and potential sellers, gain a deeper understanding of the development of supporting industrial belts, strengthen cooperation and exchanges among more sellers in Henan, strengthen the establishment of service provider networks, help sellers who are committed to building brands to build brands, and train local talents.
As the capital city of Hubei, Wuhan has formed a number of industrial belts and industrial clusters with cross-border export potential, including household goods, textiles and clothing, auto parts, medical devices, equipment manufacturing, etc. that are in great demand among global consumers.
In the past period of time, Hubei Province has been building five trillion-level pillar industries such as modern information technology, big health and automobile manufacturing, 10 500 billion-level advantageous industries, and 20 strategic emerging industries and advanced manufacturing clusters around the "51020" modern industrial cluster, which is also an important factor in attracting Amazon.
At the same time, Wuhan and Hubei also have advantages in transportation and talent, which are important factors in promoting the development of the export cross-border industry. Equally important, in the past period of time, the Hubei Provincial and Wuhan Municipal Governments have continued to explore the path of high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce and steadily promoted the development of cross-border e-commerce.
Drive more sellers in the central region to go global
The opening of Amazon’s offices in Zhengzhou and Wuhan will also bring more opportunities to sellers and industries in central China, driving their faster development.
As a top seller that grew up in Zhengzhou, Zhiou Home Furnishing entered the fast lane of company development after cooperating with Amazon in 2012, and opened up its vision of a global platform based on the Amazon platform.
Guo Zhiyu, deputy general manager of Zhiou Home Furnishing, believes that Amazon's establishment of an office in Zhengzhou is of great significance to local companies. It is mainly reflected in the following five points: first, it can provide local supply chains with opportunities to quickly open up globalization; second, it can enhance local service capabilities, and Zhengzhou sellers can enjoy account services, offline training and many other services without leaving their homes; third, it provides overall supply chain solutions, bringing more support to the development of the entire industry; fourth, it enables brands to go global; fifth, the global platform entering Zhengzhou can help local traditional industries, not just sellers, but also promote the transformation and upgrading of the industrial chain in various cities in Henan Province.
Currently, Amazon has 19 sites open to Chinese sellers. It has more than 200 million paying members and more than 400 operation centers around the world, covering consumers in more than 200 countries and regions. One of the unique values that Amazon provides to Chinese sellers is brand building.
In the short term, Amazon will continue to increase its investment in Wuhan and Zhengzhou, driving more brands of central sellers to enter the international market. Amazon Central China |
