China's cumulative home appliance exports reached US$83.7 billion, and the boom continued in 2021

 

According to data released by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, in 2020, the cumulative export value of China's home appliance industry reached US$83.7 billion, an increase of 18% year-on-year. The export value is the best level in the same period in history, and the growth rate is the highest in the past decade.

 

It is reported that among large appliances, refrigerator exports performed particularly well. Customs data showed that in 2020, China exported a total of 69.54 million refrigerators, a year-on-year increase of 35.6%. Among them, 6.48 million refrigerators were exported in December, a year-on-year increase of 58.7%;

 

Among small household appliances, the export of kitchen appliances and environmental cleaning appliances has increased significantly. Popular categories include microwave ovens, pressure coffee machines, multi-function stand mixers, toasters, air purifiers, vacuum cleaners, smart speakers, electric hair clippers, etc.

 

In 2021, the home appliance industry continued its hot growth. From January to February, the cumulative export value of the home appliance industry increased by 93.7% year-on-year. Compared with the same period in 2019, it increased by about 50%.

Recently, the Office of the United States Trade Representative ( USTR) announced that in order to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tariff exemption period for 99 Chinese medical protection products exported to the United States will be extended . It is reported that a total of 31 completely excluded goods under tariff numbers and 68 partially excluded goods under 50 tariff numbers are involved .

 

On December 22 last year , USTR announced a list of 99 medical protection products that will be excluded from additional tariffs on Chinese products exported to the United States. The exclusion will be valid from April 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021.

 

YouTube requires UP hosts outside the United States to submit tax bills, otherwise 24% of their income will be deducted

 

Recently, YouTube , a video website owned by Google, said in an email sent to up-masters around the world that the platform's payment method has changed. It is expected that from June this year, all up-masters, including those outside the United States, will need to pay taxes according to the US tax rate.

 

Google said that if no tax form is submitted, 24% of the up-master's income will be deducted as tax. It is reported that many people make money by uploading videos on YouTube, and many of them even make a living from YouTube.

 

Kazakhstan cuts taxes for small and medium-sized enterprises

 

In order to support small and medium-sized enterprises affected by the epidemic to overcome difficulties, the Kazakhstan government recently announced that it will continue to take additional measures.

 

It is reported that from 2023, Kazakhstan will permanently apply a 6% assessed tax rate to small and medium-sized enterprises , including a retail tax of 3% of turnover and an income tax of 3% of actual income.

 

US fashion retailer Express accelerates e-commerce business

 

Recently, American fashion retailer Express released its fourth quarter performance report . The report showed that Express lost $53.3 million in the quarter , compared with a loss of $141.6 million in the same period last year, exceeding market expectations; its total sales were $430.3 million, down 29% from the same period last year.

 

Express said it is developing a new strategy to expand its online sales to $1 billion by 2024. The company also wants to improve its website with faster payment processing and better search and navigation. Details of the plan are expected to be announced in the second quarter of this year.
