The controversy over variant violations has not yet subsided ...
Since Amazon started to crack down on variant violations, a large number of sellers have become extremely nervous. It is said that 90% of sellers in the industry have merged variants. After the batch scanning in early April and May 10, Amazon seemed to be lenient and automatically restored many accounts involved in variant violations. However, it is not that you can sit back and relax after the ban is lifted. Many sellers found that large-scale errors appeared again when merging variants. What should be done with the variants next?
8040 error reports are coming in large numbers, sellers: dare not move
After the variant violation accounts were automatically unblocked, the sellers were about to start business again. However, when they tried to merge the split variants again using the template and merge them in compliance, they were confused again, with a large area of 8040 errors displayed.
During the crackdown by Amazon, a group of sellers suffered heavy losses after their variants were split, one of them said that they lost 10,000 to 20,000 yuan a day. So many people are eager to merge. The current 8040 error has put everyone in a passive position. One seller said that the split variants could not be merged from 8036 to 8040. This phenomenon is not an isolated case. Even if the legally merged variants are split, they dare not easily try to merge them.
Most people are taking a wait-and-see attitude. One seller said bluntly: "Now the variants that were forcibly demolished are lying motionless. I dare not move them!"
However, there are also lucky sellers. Although their feedback shows error 8040, the system automatically merges the variants. Some sellers cannot wait and merge manually. There are also cases of successful merging of the front and back ends, but the probability is not high.
I don't know if there will be any problems with the current forced merge. A colleague who tried to merge said that the previous colorname could not be merged together, but the merger was successful when the variant theme was changed to color.
Other industry insiders have offered solutions. There are several things you can try for the 8040 error: first, add new products. As long as there is no error, you can completely switch to a completely new SKU. Second, the 8040 error may still be a system bug. Don’t worry about it for now. Merge the products first to see if the link has been restored. Don’t worry about the template error. Third, ask the template customer service to complain. However, given the large number of system problems, it may not be resolved.
Bold colleagues have already tried it, but most people are still cautious about it. Someone consulted an Amazon manager and got the following reply: 8036 error means that a new manual review team has been added in the US. 8036 means that sellers who abuse variations will be internally marked and all your variations will be locked within 30 days. It is recommended that sellers do not repeatedly split and merge variations.
Therefore, it is better to stop splitting and merging variants for now. After all, Amazon’s recovery of a large number of scanned accounts this time is already quite good, and keeping the accounts is the first priority.
Automatically recovered accounts should be wary of being hacked again
On May 15, Amazon restored a batch of accounts that were illegally scanned by variants, which really gave many sellers a surprise. In the early morning of that day, colleagues were spreading the good news: the accounts that were scanned a few days ago were magically restored. One seller said that his colleague told me in the morning that the store was back, and he was so excited.
Many people were glad that their accounts were automatically restored this time, and lamented that this was a close call. They might not be so lucky next time, and Amazon will continue to be kind. Everyone should be honest and not do any illegal operations in the future.
Although many accounts have been restored, there are still problems. Problem 1: The links in the store have not been restored, and the backend management inventory is displayed as blank. Because all the links were deleted by Amazon before, the system cannot automatically restore. Therefore, the seller needs to enter the backend, recreate the restore, manually upload the form, and then transfer to FBA after uploading. Problem 2: The links were also restored at the same time, but all the variants are gone.
Not all the accounts that were swept can be restored this time. Some are still locked in the black room, including many accounts that played zombie mergers. In addition, the accounts that were restored this time were basically blocked in May, while most of the accounts that were also blocked in early April due to variant violations have not made any progress. According to the relevant service provider Fenzhu, the large-scale recovery of the variant illegal accounts was expected. Every time a large-scale account scan is carried out, there will be automatic recovery . However, the number this time is the highest among all automatic recoveries , and sellers reported that the recovery rate accounted for more than 70% .
Among the more than 200 accounts that have been restored , only a few have filed appeals . This shows that in the face of such mass bans, everyone is more cautious and dares not take any action but wait and see.
It is worth noting that similar situations will occur after each batch event , and this type of batch account blocking will become more frequent. Sellers may still see account scanning due to variant issues in the future, and the possibility of automatic recovery after the account blocking is small, so sellers are advised not to violate regulations in the near future.
Now everyone is speculating that the variant scanning issue is because Amazon has limited manpower, and it is unrealistic for their team to check each link one by one. Therefore, in the early stage, they sent performance warnings and closed stores in batches to deter all sellers, and there will definitely be some mistaken killings. Scanning has made sellers panic, and everyone has begun to self-check and self-correct, and actively split the illegal links. After Amazon has achieved the deterrent effect, it will review the mistakenly killed stores. As long as they are not serious and repeated violations, they will basically be unblocked slowly.
Don’t expect Amazon to stop after the number scans. Instead, they will start regular, low-intensity spot checks. According to people familiar with the matter, Amazon’s spot checks for variant violations will continue until December.
After their accounts were scanned for variant violations, many sellers filed complaints with service providers. Now that their accounts have been restored, some service providers have not returned the money they received, which means they have won without doing anything.
What if the variant is split?
Nowadays, the most important issue for sellers after their accounts have been restored is how to operate variants in the future so as not to violate Amazon's rules and avoid having their accounts swept.
In fact, Amazon has already given an answer to this question. According to the official introduction, the following five situations involve variant non-compliance.
1. They are not substantially identical goods ; 2. The name of the variant theme is incorrect ; 3. Add some ASINs that have not been sold for a long time to variants ; 4. The sub - product images look inconsistent (especially the main image) ; 5. Changing the product detail page (parent or child product) so that it is significantly different from the originally published product
If a variant is split, it is mostly due to non-compliance. Amazon provides three different solutions after the variant is split.
First, the ASIN is normally salable, with no violation record and complaint button. Solution: Find the reason for the split according to the variation rules; create the correct variation for the split sub-ASIN or sell it as a single product; check whether the other variations have similar problems according to the given reasons and modify them in advance; usually there is no need to submit an appeal.
Second, the ASIN cannot be sold, there is a violation record and an appeal button. Solution: Determine the cause of the problem based on the performance notification; if there may be a misjudgment, appeal on the grounds of misjudgment; if there is a variant violation, correct the violation and appeal.
Third, the account is closed, with a violation record and an appeal button. Solution: Check the ASIN that is the source of the problem; if it cannot be found, it is recommended that the seller check one by one and correct all variants with potential problems; contact sales partner support to help check whether there are any problems with the variants; contact the account status protection program directly on the seller platform to try to seek help; submit a POA appeal.
Although this wave of variant scanning has been restored in batches, Amazon will definitely focus on variant violations in the future. Sellers are reminded to comply with official requirements and ensure account security. Amazon Report an error |
