75%! Women in Generation Z become the main force of TikTok consumption

75%! Women in Generation Z become the main force of TikTok consumption

According to the latest data, Generation Z accounts for 60% of TikTok users .

Morning Consult found in a previous survey that TikTok has a great influence on how the younger generation spends money, and #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt has received more than 8 billion views.

Another report from Morning Consult found that women are more likely to use TikTok than men in Generation Z , at 75% , compared with 62% of men of the same age .

Ellyn Briggs, brand analyst at Morning Consult , said TikTok, an app centered around Gen Z women, was setting the tone and narrative for what was 'hot' online.

Spending more time means a greater chance of encountering internet celebrities.

The survey results show that Generation Z women are the main purchasing force in terms of clothing, beauty products, fashion accessories (including bracelets and watches), home decoration, etc.

As for the reason for this phenomenon, Shaun Williams, a partner and private wealth advisor at Paragon Capital Management and a certified financial planner, said that baby boomers are able to keep up with their peers because they are able to see the shopping habits of people of the same socioeconomic status nearby.

Social media platforms like TikTok have taken this concept to even greater heights, especially for Generation Z. While there is a lot of financial stress due to issues like the high cost of living, people are more concerned about FOMO (fear of missing out).

However, many people are also worried about the FOMO mentality of Generation Z. Because LendingTree 's survey data shows that from March 2021 to the first quarter of 2023, the non-mortgage debt of Generation Z increased by 99.3% , and the average debt of these young consumers added up to $10,797.

At this point the editor can't help but sigh, it turns out that whether in China or abroad, the first principle is always to spend money within one's means when it comes to "shopping". If you are not careful, you might turn from a "rich man" or "rich woman" into a "poor man" or "poor woman".
