September and October are the golden periods for recruitment and the peak season for job hunting. In the cross-border e-commerce industry, more than 80% of companies use Boss Direct to recruit for Amazon-related positions, so the platform has accumulated a large amount of industry data.
What is the latest market demand for Amazon operations? What is the salary situation in Guangzhou and Shenzhen? Is it easy to find a job? Which cities can operations move to? Boss Zhipin and other platforms have provided statistical information on these issues that are of general concern to the operations group. Employers can also refer to them to adjust their recruitment strategies appropriately.
Although Amazon's operational positions are stressful, some industry insiders believe that compared to At the same time, suffering from the constant work pressure, some operations have begun to think about changing careers. Some industry insiders believe that compared with other industries, the salary income in the Amazon industry is better, so it is necessary to be cautious in changing careers. What do you think?
Amazon's operational demand has increased nearly sevenfold this year
According to statistics from Zhiyouji, the market demand for Amazon operations this year has increased by 6.9 times compared to the same period in 2022, with the number of positions in September increasing by 514% year-on-year; the average salary is 10.4k, an increase of 9% over last year. Shenzhen has the highest demand for Amazon operations recruitment, with more than half of the positions requiring 1-3 years of experience.
In Shenzhen, the number of Amazon operations positions has increased 11 times compared to last year. The number of positions in August and September was particularly high, increasing by about 20 times compared to last year. Although there are more positions to choose from, the salary and benefits have not recovered. This year, the average salary of Amazon operations in Shenzhen is 11.5k, down 2% from last year; the average monthly salary is 12.6k, 15.3% lower than the average salary of 14.8k in Shenzhen, and 65.5% of people earn 8-15k.
BOSS Direct Hire has compiled data on the total annual salary for Amazon operations positions in Shenzhen (the data focuses on fixed salaries , with less reference to floating salaries such as performance and commissions). Among them , 25% of people have an annual salary of less than 77,840 yuan, 50% have an annual salary of less than 100,000 yuan, 75% have an annual salary of less than 130,000 yuan, and only 10% have a salary of more than 165,000 yuan.
(Income range distribution)
In terms of age, operators under the age of 24 account for more than half, reaching 56%, those between 25 and 29 account for 33%, and those 30 and above account for only about 10%. The practitioners are obviously young.
In the past year, the average monthly salary of Amazon operators in Shenzhen has generally shown a downward trend. It rebounded in August and September. The average monthly salary in September was 8,353, a month-on-month decrease of 0.08%.
In Guangzhou, Amazon 's recruitment volume is also increasing, up four times from last year, with July and August being the peak recruitment period, and the number of positions starting to decline in September. However, the salary for this position in Guangzhou has increased this year, with the current average salary being 10.5k, up 4% from last year; the average monthly salary is 11.7k, 6.2% lower than the average salary of 12.5k in Guangzhou, and 53.9% of people earn 8-15k.
In terms of income range (biased towards fixed salary), 20% of Amazon operators in Guangzhou have an annual salary of less than 59,800 yuan, 27% between 59,800 and 81,100 yuan, 23% between 81,100 and 102,500 yuan, 14% between 102,500 and 123,800 yuan, and only 16% over 123,800 yuan. 66% of operators are under 24 years old, and only 8% are 30 years old or above.
The average monthly salary for jobs in Guangzhou is not high. After a brief rebound in July and August, it fell again. The average operating salary decreased by 1.2% in September.
Xiamen's Amazon operation demand is second only to Guangzhou and Shenzhen. This year, Xiamen's recruitment volume increased by 60% compared with last year, which is slower than Guangzhou and Shenzhen. However, the average salary of Amazon operation positions increased by 3% compared with last year to 9.7k. The average monthly salary of the positions was 10.7k, 9.1% higher than the average salary of 9.8k in Xiamen, and 60% of them earned 6-10k.
In addition to the above three cities, Hangzhou, Dongguan, Xuchang, Zhongshan, Shanghai, Ningbo and Changsha also have a large demand for Amazon operations, ranking in the top ten in terms of recruitment volume.
Be careful when changing careers, operations is still a good job
In fact, up to now, the operations salary bubble that skyrocketed due to the epidemic has almost completely burst, and the conditions and salary requirements for operations job hunting have been lowered.
The boss of a self-proclaimed small company said that he was worried about not being able to recruit people in July and August, but after the National Day holiday, the company has successively recruited a person with three years of Amazon experience from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, an assistant from a first-class university with a cross-border sales volume, etc., and the other party's asking price is between 5.5k and 9k, which is not as exaggerated as before. Some people believe that the current economic and job search situation is not optimistic, and the operation of the company is just a stopgap measure. If there is a better choice in the future, they will probably continue to change jobs.
People in the industry are constantly moving around, hoping to find a position that meets their expectations, and some operations personnel want to step out of this river. Due to the pressure of not separating work from life and the troubles of low commissions, some operations personnel are eager to leave this position. "I have been working for more than two years, and the highest salary I get is 14k. I am really tired and want to change careers." So compared with other jobs, is Amazon operation a good choice?
Some people in the industry suggest that for operations, unless there are better job options, it is recommended to continue to improve operations, as excellent personnel are still scarce in the market.
An operator shared her experience, "I have been in the industry for almost 5 years, with a base salary of 18.5k, and a total income of about 35,000-50,000 yuan. The company's commission is relatively high." She admitted that most people around her only make a salary of more than 10k, and she also survived like this, but there are also people who make a lot of money. A former colleague of mine made 50,000 or 60,000 yuan in commission alone. "Read more posts from other industries, and you will really find that the salary income in the Amazon industry is better than that in other industries."
Judging from the actual feedback from operations, the salary and benefits for this position are generally acceptable:
"With 2.5 years of experience, I was offered a job of 9k and a job of 12k, but I didn't take either." "Located in Shenzhen, base salary 13k, commission based on sales, with a ladder, the lowest is 0.8 points, two days off per week, no overtime." "Five years of experience, 17k, 13th salary, two days off a week." "Two years of experience, 8.5-9K per week is not hard to find." "Xiao Bai started as an assistant, with a fixed salary of 6.5k and two days off a week."
According to analysis by people in the e-commerce industry, in general, the salary expectations of cross-border e-commerce operation managers are higher than those of domestic e-commerce operation managers. For example, in Beijing, a 29-year-old cross-border e-commerce operation manager with 7 years of experience and a domestic e-commerce operation manager with more than 10 years of experience and over 30 years of age both expect to earn 25k*13. The reason for this is that, on the one hand, the local cross-border e-commerce industry is not as developed as in the south, and talent may be in short supply. On the other hand, the dividends of the cross-border e-commerce industry in recent years have driven up the salaries of practitioners.
However, it is still difficult for many companies to recruit suitable operators. To a certain extent, this phenomenon of "thirsty recruitment" is caused by the mismatch between supply and demand. In the past two years, the industry has developed rapidly, and people are restless and it is difficult to settle down and focus on a category; now that the growth rate has slowed down, long-term demand has gradually been valued, which is also a good thing for promoting the healthy development of the industry. However, in this process, some people come in and some leave.
Operations is a sales position and a job for young people. Those who want to stay in this industry must grow quickly and accumulate skills to move up the company. But for many operators, working is also a process of training and learning. When skills are accumulated to a proper level, it is time to go solo and create a career. At that time, they will become business owners and step into another river. |
