The data also showed that Amazon’s orders increased in the second quarter, and it is expected to maintain the growth trend in the second half of the year.

In the first half of this year, many sellers complained about the mediocre sales volume on major social platforms. But at the beginning of the second half of the year, with the arrival of Amazon PD, many sellers still received satisfactory results. In just two days, Amazon sold 375 million products, an increase of 25% compared to last year's overall sales . It also said that the sales volume on the first day of the event broke the company's historical record.

 

In this event, Amazon continued its previous PD firepower, with sales in multiple sites such as Europe increasing significantly, while sales in the United States directly soared 10 times, and some sellers even saw sales soar 40 times.

 

In this regard, many sellers said:

 

——Sales volume is four times the usual amount, which feels a bit disappointing.

——PD was a bit explosive this year. A two-year-old link sold 4,000 orders on the first day, and a cabinet was sold out of goods.

Before the PD, both sellers and Amazon probably did not dare to have high expectations for the event. After all, inflation has caused consumption to downgrade in many markets this year. From the beginning of the year to before the event, sellers' order volume performance was mediocre; coupled with the fact that some e-commerce platforms have flooded into the market, a price war has been launched.

 

However, under various pressures , Amazon PD's high score this year has given sellers hope for explosive orders in the second half of the year. Recently, Extensiv 's data also revealed the actual order situation of sellers on Amazon in the first half of this year.

 

Data from Extensiv shows that in the first quarter of 2023, the average order volume of Amazon's third-party sellers increased by 17% year-on-year, and in the second quarter it increased by 44% year-on-year . Overall , Amazon's order volume growth this year is better than in the previous two years.

 

 

Judging from the week-on-week growth chart, Amazon's week-on-week order volume growth is also relatively stable, and the increase in the last week of the second quarter exceeded that of the previous two years.

 

In the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, third-party sellers accounted for 59% of Amazon's total sales . In the first quarter of this year , Amazon's third-party seller service revenue was US$29.8 billion, an increase of 17.7% over the same period in 2022.

 

It is often said that inflation causes consumers to lose their desire to consume, but data do not lie, and the cross-border e-commerce market still maintains a high demand trend.

 

In early July, a seller said on a social platform that many of his fellow sellers had achieved 80% of last year's performance in the first half of this year alone . Many other sellers said their performance was in line with expectations and were optimistic about growth in the second half of the year.

 

In addition, in a voting activity initiated by a seller, more than half of the sellers said that they had achieved their performance targets for the first half of the year, more than 30% said that they had completed more than 85%, and the remaining small number did not complete their performance targets, but expressed their expectations for the peak season in the second half of the year.

 

Obviously, the cross-border market is not that cold. “It’s just that the growth is more stable than before when orders exploded easily.” “It earns more than working.” “It’s easier to make ends meet by working for Amazon.”

 

The performance in the first half of the year maintained year-on-year growth, and PD continued to surge in orders. Many sellers reiterated their confidence in sales during the upcoming back-to-school and holiday seasons. Some sellers are even preparing to start recruiting to prepare for the second half of the year .

 

The operations recruitment market is hot, with salaries in Shenzhen reaching 14K+

 

Entering the second half of the year, with the "pearl" of PD's explosive sales in the past, sellers are gearing up to make a big move. But before that, they need to prepare their troops first.

 

——After several operations and art designers left at the beginning of the year, we haven’t recruited anyone. This time the PD is short of manpower and is in a mess.

After the PD, comments like these piled up in the seller’s message area.

 

Although the data for July has not yet been released, data from Zhiyouji shows that the number of recruitments for the position of "Amazon Operations" has been increasing since the beginning of this year , with an overall increase of 79% compared to the same period in 2022 .

 

 

In June alone , Amazon's operational job openings reached 1,100, up 253% from the same period last year. Looking at the recruitment growth curve over the past few years, February (the time period for returning to work after the Spring Festival) is the peak recruitment period, July and August are the colder periods for operational recruitment, and September-November is the time when recruitment starts frantically, probably due to the peak sales season in Europe and the United States.

 

However, the growth curve of operations job recruitment has changed this year. It has remained relatively stable from the beginning of the year to date, but has increased significantly year-on-year, and has started to grow significantly from April to June. Some industry insiders said that the peak season for operations job recruitment in the second half of this year may be brought forward to July .

 

By region, Amazon's recruitment demand for operations positions is highest in five cities: Shenzhen (21.8%), Guangzhou (7.1%), Xiamen (4.3%), Hangzhou (3.2%), and Dongguan (2.7%).

 

Recruitment demand continues to grow and salaries are also growing positively.

 

Zhiyouji shows that as of July 25, the average salary for Amazon operations recruitment is 11K, but the highest percentage of salary is 6-8K, accounting for 28%, followed by 10-15K (22%) and 8-10K (21%). Among them, the average monthly salary in Shenzhen is 14.2K (10-15K accounts for the highest percentage, accounting for 33.2%), and the average in Guangzhou is 12.6K (8-10K accounts for the highest percentage, accounting for 27.4%) .

 

 

But in terms of experience, most sellers this year prefer operations with some but less experience. " Newbies need time and effort to be trained, and may not be able to prepare for peak season sales. Those with 3-5 years of experience are more experienced but their thinking tends to be rigid, making it difficult for them to adapt to the company's requirements, and it may take more time to get used to the new experience ."

 

Therefore, many sellers still prefer to recruit operators with 1-3 years of experience . Zhiyouji data also pointed out that in terms of experience requirements, most Amazon companies hope for 1-3 years (51.7%), followed by no experience requirements (28.1%), 3-5 years (13.6%), 5-10 years (3.4%), and fresh graduates (2.9%).

 

——All the graduates have come out, and BOSS has received a lot of resumes, but we don’t recruit people without experience. At least 1-3 years of experience is required.

——Those with more than 5 years of experience have their own set of frameworks and cannot adapt to the company.

——He just graduated and knows nothing about Amazon, so he is difficult to lead.

Although the demand for recruitment is increasing, in today's cross-border recruitment market, the two-way selection between sellers and operations has become more difficult, as each has more things to value. This has also led to a situation where sellers cannot recruit people and operations cannot find jobs.
