No need to roll! Sellers on the US site can pay more attention to these potential categories

According to the latest data from market research firm Insider Intelligence, food and beverage is currently the fastest-growing e-commerce category in the U.S. The company predicts that overall e-commerce sales in the U.S. will increase 9.3% this year to $1.137 trillion.

By the end of 2023, e-commerce will account for 15.6% of total U.S. retail sales, up from 14.7% last year. Insider Intelligence predicts that by 2027, e-commerce sales will account for more than 20% of total U.S. retail sales .

Additionally, data from Insider Intelligence shows that although e-commerce sales growth for food and beverages is slowing, this category remains the fastest growing category in U.S. e-commerce today .

The agency predicts that e-commerce sales of food and beverages will grow 20% this year to $99.7 billion, accounting for 8.8% of total U.S. e-commerce sales by the end of this year. In addition, Insider Intelligence predicts that by 2026, e-commerce sales of food and beverages will account for 10% of total U.S. e- commerce sales for the first time .

Whitney Birdsall, forecasting analyst at Insider Intelligence, added in a company press release that inflation has helped drive food and beverage sales growth over the past year and a half .

After food and beverages, the second fastest-growing e-commerce category in the U.S. is health, beauty, and personal care, which includes over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements, personal care and hygiene products, toiletries, and baby and pet products.

This year, Insider Intelligence expects e-commerce sales in this category to grow 18.9% to $130.5 billion. In addition, health, beauty and personal care products are expected to surpass food and beverages to become the fastest growing category in the U.S. e-commerce industry next year.

Insider Intelligence predicts that health, beauty, and personal care will be the fastest-growing industry next year, or 17.5% year-over-year (food and beverage 17.0%). By 2026, online sales of health and personal care products will exceed $200 billion.

Within the health and personal care segment, sales of cosmetics and beauty products are expected to grow 13.6% this year to reach $18.4 billion by the end of the year.

At a time when 3C and clothing products are so competitive, sellers can pay proper attention to categories such as beauty and personal care, where competition is not so fierce but the growth rate is faster.
