TikTok announces it will ban "unlicensed businesses"

Recently, TikTok announced that it will ban "unlicensed merchants", that is, prohibit retailers without brand authorization from selling duty-free products in Hainan or abroad. The new regulations will take effect on March 31.

"Unlicensed merchants" transport products from overseas or domestic bonded areas, or directly transport them from foreign countries to the domestic market, and sell "duty-free products" to consumers, which violates the regulatory policy on cross-border e-commerce retail exports.

It can be seen from the above new regulations that TikTok is cracking down on unlicensed merchants. In this case, Korean duty-free shops may be seriously affected because they are heavily dependent on Chinese import trade.

As more and more businesses join the TikTok platform, TikTok's review of merchants and products has become increasingly strict.

The editor believes that in addition to the above new regulations, merchants must also be careful to avoid listing banned goods.

According to the "TikTok Shop Prohibited Products Guide" officially released by TikTok, the following products are prohibited from being sold on the website.

1. Firearms, ammunition and weapons

2. Harmful and dangerous items

3. Human body parts and human remains

4. Animals and animal products, protected wild animals and plants
5. Adult Products and Services

6. Discriminatory and offensive products

7. Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia

8. Security and Privacy

9. Government and Military Items

10. Coins, Cash, Gift Cards and Financial Products

11. Products that may facilitate illegal activities or dishonest behavior

12. Unauthorized/Substandard Drugs and Medical Devices

13. Other prohibited products

At the same time, it should be noted that inappropriate products may also be banned according to local culture and social customs. Products that do not comply with local laws and regulations, product qualifications, certifications or technical standards are also banned.

Any products that do not meet the above requirements will be deleted by Tik Tok.

The editor here reminds Tik Tok merchants that when publishing products, they must make sure to complete the product information as much as possible to avoid being judged as a banned product by the official. In addition, if the product involves violations, the product will be removed from the shelves at the least, and the store will be directly closed at the worst, which will have a serious impact on the merchant.
