When the US Consumer Notification Act officially comes into effect , all Amazon accounts may need to be verified, and a large number of sellers are starting to panic!
All previously unverified accounts will be required to undergo verification this time, and many old accounts are required to undergo five verifications. What is frustrating for sellers is that they may have to pass all the verifications before the law takes effect on the 27th, which leaves them with little time and almost no room for error.
All previously unverified accounts must be verified
The U.S. Consumer Notification Act came into effect on June 27. Starting from June 16, a large number of sellers suddenly received notifications that Amazon required them to complete account verification.
It is understood that this verification covers a wide range of accounts. Many sellers were previously required to verify their accounts, but they did not do so. After the warning disappeared automatically, they received a new identity verification notification.
One seller was puzzled: "Verification was not required when the platform was the most stringent, but verification suddenly appeared today." Another seller lamented: "Amazon requires all accounts to be verified. It's too bad. It really caught us off guard!" More sellers received verification notifications as follows:
“——I have not received the ones I verified before, but all the others have come; ——I received it on 3 accounts this morning. I am really impressed. ——I just received the verification today, it’s so pitfall; ——I have received all the things I haven’t received yet, and I don’t know if the time I gave is enough; ——It was shown before, then disappeared, and then suddenly flashed today; ——All my accounts have received verification in the past two days; ——Our company account had this problem at the end of May. It appeared in the morning and disappeared in the afternoon. It appeared again today.”
Many sellers had not been verified before, so the warning disappeared automatically. Some people were hoping for the best and thought that the warning would disappear this time too. However, the warning did not disappear the next morning, and those accounts that had escaped verification could not escape now.
A seller said that except for new stores with annual sales volume less than 200, all other stores need verification. There was a store that had never received the verification before, but it was notified this morning that it needed five verifications.
In addition to accounts that have not been verified before, some accounts that have been verified are being asked to verify again. A seller questioned: "I just received an identity verification today, and there is also a tax verification, but I can't click into it. Has anyone encountered the same situation? Do I have to complete one verification before proceeding to the next one?"
A large number of old accounts need to undergo 5 verifications
Many old accounts were also required to be verified this time. An old seller in the industry introduced an old account whose IPI score had always been maintained at 1000 points . It was previously thought that verification might not be required , but now verification is also required, and this situation is not an isolated case .
Another old seller said that this is the last batch of account verifications because the effective date of the bill is approaching. He said that most of the last batch of verifications are old accounts, and they need to verify 5 items, unlike new accounts that only need to verify one or two items .
It is worth noting that many people's old accounts are being reviewed for the first time. On June 15, these old accounts only needed to verify the address, and all five items had to be verified the next day. In the case of a colleague, an old account initially only needed to verify the payment account and phone number. After the information was submitted and verified, identity verification began the next day, and the following points needed to be re-verified. Another colleague said that we now have several stores that need to verify everything, starting with identity, especially stores registered in 2015.
These old accounts that sell goods honestly are at a loss when they are audited. Especially if there are changes in address , company name, or legal person , it will be more difficult to authenticate them.
Some colleagues believe that the most fatal aspects of this old account authentication are threefold: first, the difficulty of the five verification items for old accounts with incomplete information has been upgraded; second, the sales and stability of old accounts are very good, and if they fail to pass the verification this time, the losses will be huge; third, the effective date of the bill is approaching, and sellers have little time for verification, leaving almost no time for error tolerance.
What will happen if verification cannot be passed before the 27th?
In fact, not only old accounts, but all accounts that are required to be verified this time do not have enough time. Many sellers are worried that they will not be able to complete the verification before June 27.
“This is too unfair. Those who informed in advance at least had enough verification time and trial and error opportunities. The sudden requirement for verification in the past two days means that there is only one chance for each verification option, otherwise it is likely that all verification options will not be passed by the 27th. This is too unfair. Amazon plays it like this…” A seller seemed helpless.
Do all sellers have to complete the verification before the 27th? According to another email everyone received, most sellers are prompted to complete the verification before June 27th. Many people are afraid that if they do not complete the verification by that date, their stores will be deactivated.
A seller consulted Amazon customer service about this matter, and the customer service replied that the verification may be delayed, but there is no official statement yet. Some peers said that if the verification is not completed within the deadline, the account will not be deactivated, but it may not be able to receive payments temporarily. After the verification is passed later, the payment will be received normally.
What bothers sellers is that this verification is not only short, but Amazon also has to verify one by one. However, some peers shared their experience that the verification is very fast now. Their previous batch was not submitted for verification (all store funds were reserved). They submitted identity verification at 10 pm the day before yesterday, and received an email at 6 am the next day. The yellow warning disappeared 3 hours after the bank account verification was submitted, and 24 hours later. But address verification may take 2-3 days.
The five verifications required by Amazon are: seller identity information verification, bank card information verification, address information verification, phone number verification, and tax information verification.
Seller identity verification : The verification portal for individual sellers was opened on May 22. The purpose is to verify whether the information of the current store operator is accurate. If the company information has changed, it is necessary to provide the latest company information.
Bank card information verification : You can fill in a virtual bank for bank card information verification, as long as the cardholder information is consistent with the information in the Amazon Seller Platform. When adding or changing bank account information, a 3-day security retention period will take effect and Amazon will verify the new bank account information. The bank statement must include: bank name, bank logo, account number and account holder information.
Address information verification : If the new address filled in does not match the original information on the Amazon seller platform, it may trigger a one-time postcard address verification. A postcard will be sent to the new address to verify the accuracy of the address information. The "Company Address" must be filled in in Chinese.
Phone number verification : When verifying, please fill in the phone number in the format of "+86 xxxxxxxxxxx" to complete the verification. Now, the technical failure of not receiving the verification code 3 times has been fixed. You can click "Add a new business phone" on the page to re-verify. This number can be the same as the number previously verified.
Tax information verification : For domestic individual sellers, the tax number is the ID number; for corporate sellers, the tax number is the unified social credit code on the business license . Clicking "Tax Information Verification" on the "Account Information" and "Account Status" pages will lead to different pages, where normal verification can be performed.
