Walmart has a new policy, and the dropshipping model may be eliminated

Due to severe price involution, many Amazon sellers are considering a multi-platform layout, and Walmart, which has been growing rapidly in recent years, has naturally become the focus of sellers.

However, with the continuous influx of third-party sellers on the Walmart platform, Walmart seems to be intent on controlling the growth rate of sellers , thereby providing consumers with a better shopping environment.

It is reported that Walmart may shorten the time it takes for sellers to process shipments in the future, which is obviously not good news for sellers who adopt the consignment delivery model.

In the future, Walmart sellers may need to ship orders within one day unless Walmart approves the seller's "delayed delivery" request. However, according to Walmart, they will cancel the delayed delivery function.

In a letter to sellers, Walmart said that sellers can apply for a new "delayed delivery" request, but Walmart will reject the seller's request if the seller falls into one of the following two situations:

1. Sellers need to purchase goods from third-party suppliers after consumers place orders, which means that sellers have no control over the product inventory levels and delivery time of third-party suppliers.

2. Due to the inefficiency of their own logistics network, sellers are unable to achieve same-day or next-day delivery.

Sellers who meet the above two conditions may not be able to meet Walmart’s delivery time requirements in the future, and will be gradually eliminated from the platform.

This is undoubtedly a devastating blow to small and medium-sized sellers who mainly rely on dropshipping. Without strong financial support, many small sellers can only choose to invest less in the dropshipping model. However, since they cannot accurately grasp the inventory status of suppliers, it is easy to run out of stock or delay delivery.

However, this is good news for sellers who mainly use Walmart warehouses. As the number of sellers who ship on behalf of others decreases, there will be less competition on the platform and the price involution situation will also be alleviated.

Some sellers said that after the introduction of this policy, those sellers who resell products from other platforms may have a hard time, but it will have little impact on sellers who operate normally.

It can be seen that as the number of sellers on the Walmart platform continues to expand, the platform has also begun to screen sellers. This can not only promote healthy competition among sellers, but also improve consumers' shopping experience and increase user stickiness. It is a good thing for both the platform and the sellers.
