In 2021, China accounted for 43.5% of the world's major clothing exporters, and its position will be difficult to shake in the short term. China's clothing industry is mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong. Public data shows that the Southeast Asian e-commerce clothing market has reached a market size of US$42 billion (about RMB 281 billion) in 2021. In 2021, the total transaction volume of women's clothing increased by 72% year-on-year. Among them, stores focusing on "stylized women's clothing" have contributed 40% of the transaction volume for the women's clothing category and maintained an upward trend. It is estimated that by 2025, the number of consumers with fashion styles in Southeast Asia will increase by 250% compared with 2021.

 

To further optimize logistics services, Cainiao teamed up with Lazada, the flagship e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, to officially launch a special line for the clothing industry to go overseas. The first stop was in Chaoshan, Guangdong. Currently, new special line collection points have been set up in Chaoshan and three other places. Chaoshan merchants can deliver goods to the nearest collection point, which will transfer the parcels to the distribution center on the same day for sorting and delivery, and lock in the special line aircraft in advance to arrive in Southeast Asia as soon as possible. The full-link time efficiency of the special line is optimized by about 20%, and the fastest time saving is about 2 days; at the same time, logistics costs will also decrease accordingly. Taking the Vietnamese market as an example, for parcels of about 200g sent to Vietnam, the logistics costs of merchants can be reduced by about 10%.

 

"The Chaoshan industrial belt has many obvious advantages in terms of supply, such as clothing, underwear, toys, small appliances, etc. The women's clothing styles preferred by consumers in the Southeast Asian market are basically perfectly compatible with the supply of Guangdong's industrial belt, and the hot-selling styles are basically the same." Sister Zhai, a Chaoshan merchant born in the 1990s, said that after the small packages are grouped into large packages and delivered to the staff, scanning the large package delivery order means that the collection and delivery are successful. The system will use this time as the completion of the SLA (merchant fulfillment time) of each small package merchant, which is 24-48 hours faster than not grouping. Previously, Sister Zhai joined the Lazada Stylized Women's Wear Merchant Support Program. She said that the year-end goal is to break through 7,000 monthly sales.

 

Data shows that Cainiao has currently deployed six smart logistics hubs around the world, with more than 100 cross-border warehouses serving import and export foreign trade, covering an area of ​​over 3 million square meters. It has more than 240 charter flights per month for trunk transportation, and has cooperated with more than 50 ports around the world to establish an intelligent customs clearance system, building a high-quality global logistics network.

 

"In the future, the apparel industry's overseas dedicated lines will expand to more regions. At the same time, Cainiao will also join hands with Lazada to launch more overseas dedicated lines that meet the characteristics of the categories, and further realize the refinement and digitalization of cross-border logistics." Miao Qingyun, head of Cainiao International's Southeast Asia business, said that Cainiao will continue to build global logistics infrastructure, optimize the "end-to-end" fulfillment services of international logistics, and provide full-link logistics solutions including international express, international supply chain and international freight, so as to expand international logistics channels for the "going overseas of domestic products" during the epidemic.

 

 

In the fourth quarter of 2021, Cainiao International's average daily cross-border parcels exceeded 5 million, continuing to stand shoulder to shoulder with international logistics giants. Its "5 US dollars for 10-day delivery" logistics product has covered 20 countries, helping more cross-border merchants "deliver to the world with the money for a cup of coffee."
