Wish launches new feature that allows merchants to set their own return policies

Recently, Wish announced that it will launch a new merchant-managed returns program, which will give sellers more autonomy and flexibility when setting return policies and processing returns.

It is reported that merchants who receive relevant notifications will be the first lucky ones selected for the internal testing of this function.

Beta merchants can set their own return policies and return approval types for each destination country on the Merchant Settings Panel > Return Settings page, including:

Select a return policy: Choose from several options based on store operations, customer service capabilities, and local laws /regulations.

Select the return approval type : Choose whether the merchant approves the return himself or authorizes Wish to approve the return application.

Set the return address: Merchants can choose their own warehouse or Wish's return and exchange point (only available in the United States).

To give merchants enough time to understand the program and develop strategies for their return settings, Wish will launch the program in late October 2022 with the following schedule:

The updated Merchant Policies – Returns, Refunds and Claims Policy will take effect in late October 2022. Therefore, merchants’ return settings will also take effect in late October 2022. (Merchants will receive further notification on the effective date.)

The return policy set by merchants independently will be gradually rolled out to global users in late October 2022. It may take several weeks for the return policy to be launched on the user side.

As a result, merchants can expect to receive return requests from customers under their own return policies through the Merchant Managed Returns program in late October 2022.

What do merchants need to do to prepare for the new return policy?

Before the new return policy takes effect, Wish officially recommends sellers to:

1. Read the relevant articles in the Help Center to better understand the merchant managed return program.

2. Choose the best return settings based on your customer service capabilities and store operations level.

3. Create your own returns settings for all destination countries you sell to .
