Online sales in Spain increased 65% in the first quarter of this year

According to foreign media reports, Salesforce conducted a survey of 1 billion online shoppers in more than 40 countries. The research showed that Spain 's Internet sales growth exceeded the global average in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 65% over the same period last year .

Data shows that global e-commerce spending in the first quarter of 2021 increased by 58% compared with the same period in 2020. This figure is much higher than the level before the outbreak , as the growth rate in the first quarter of 2020 was 17%.

In the first quarter of this year, Spanish e-commerce platform network traffic increased by 50%, while the global average growth rate was only 27% . This is the highest level Spain has reached since the beginning of the epidemic . Strangely, although the traffic of Spanish e-commerce platforms increased by half, the number of orders decreased by 13%.

According to data released by Salesforce , 74% of Spaniards choose to shop online via mobile phones, while 21% and 3% use computers and tablets respectively. These data are very similar to the data in the first quarter of last year . However, globally, 55% of people use mobile phones to place orders, 39% use computers, and only 5% choose computers .

In addition, in Spain, the average spend per visit to a shopping site was $1.1 , while the global average spend was $3.39, which was 31% higher than the $2.59 in the first quarter of 2020. The average order value of Spanish online shopping was $57.23 , while the global average order value set a new record of $94.72.

It is worth noting that Spain has the highest abandonment rate (orders created but not completed) in the world, with a mobile abandonment rate of 93% (93% globally ) and a high desktop abandonment rate of 84% ( 87% globally ) .

It is reported that since the outbreak of the epidemic, online shopping has become a consumption habit of Spaniards, and more than three-quarters of Spaniards are keen to spend more time on online shopping. In addition, Amazon has become the largest shopping platform for Spaniards, and the most popular product categories are clothing and accessories.

In short, the Spanish e-commerce market has great potential, and sellers can make reasonable arrangements based on the consumption preferences of Spanish people.
