Data shows: 61% of Americans still choose Amazon when searching for products

For most technology giants, the e-commerce industry has become their focus recently because they can leverage their huge user base for promotion and benefit from it.

Meta and Google have already entered the e-commerce field, and domestic giants such as Alibaba are not lagging behind, but Amazon is still the industry leader.

According to a recent report from Insider Intelligence, approximately 61% of Americans choose to use Amazon to search for products .

It’s important to note that search engines like Google come in second place , with only 49% of product searches coming from these platforms. This finding is interesting because it shows that Amazon is one of the few companies challenging the dominance of search engines like Google in helping customers find products .

In third place is Walmart, which accounts for about 32% of searches . We also note that 20% of searches come from Youtube, and YouTube and Google combined are slightly ahead of Amazon . But this still shows that no single channel can challenge Amazon's dominance in this field.

Another interesting piece of information is that about 11 % of product searches come from TikTok. This number may seem low, but TikTok is still a new platform and its popularity suggests that it has a good chance of challenging Amazon 's position in the near future .

TikTok 's popularity among young user groups , as well as a series of new features and platform upgrades for e-commerce, make it a strong competitor to Amazon .
