In the post-epidemic era, new business opportunities emerge in the US market!

Recently, Total Home’s Furniture Today Strategic Insights team released research on the latest consumer trends for outdoor products in the United States.

As epidemic control measures in the United States are relaxed, more and more consumers are flocking to the outdoors, thereby driving sales of related products.

Among them, the demand for outdoor decoration products, chairs, outdoor tables, carpets and other products continued to increase.

Data shows that 68% of American consumers are currently using outdoor spaces for entertaining activities, with patios being the top choice, followed by balconies and porches.

In terms of product selection, fire pot sales continue to rise, second only to outdoor kitchen supplies. In 2021, 36% of consumers discovered fire pots while entertaining outdoors, and 22% of consumers purchased fire pots.

Strategic Insights team found that Generation Z is the youngest consumer group in the outdoor products market.

Their preferred product when shopping online is outdoor furniture, with 47% preferring to buy single chairs, 40% buying group chairs, and 43% buying storage tables.

Millennials’ top choices when shopping online are dining chairs, outdoor lighting and rugs, while Generation X and baby boomers tend to buy patio umbrellas.

The average budget of American consumers for outdoor products on shopping websites is generally no more than $1,000. About 30% of consumers spend less than $200, and about 70% spend less than $1,000. The survey shows that only 1% of consumers spend a large amount of money when buying outdoor furniture, with a total expenditure of more than $10,000.

In terms of shopping platform selection, when buying outdoor products, most American consumers prefer Amazon. If they buy outdoor products offline, Lowe's and Home Depot are generally the first choice.

Large retailers such as Target and Walmart account for 34% of the outdoor goods market , while national furniture and decor stores such as IKEA, HomeGoods and AtHome account for 27% of the market.

Entering the post-epidemic era, the outdoor products market in the United States has begun to show explosive growth.

For sellers going overseas, they can seize this market opportunity, understand the consumption needs of Americans, and plan related products.
