Home and decoration product transactions in Brazil surge 300%

Recently, Latin American e-commerce platform Nuvemshop released a survey on online transactions of home and decoration products.

 

Data shows that online transaction volume in home furnishings and decorations increased by 300% between 2019 and 2021 .


Due to the impact of the epidemic, most Brazilians have to work and study at home, so the family environment has become crucial, so sales of home furnishings and decoration products have increased.

 

According to statistics, sales of home furnishings and decoration products in Brazil exceeded 200 million reais in 2021 , twice as much as in 2020.

 

Home and decoration products in Brazil also grew steadily in January 2022, with online sales increasing by 9%.


Various data show that it has become a popular trend for Brazilian consumers to buy home decoration products online , and this category is expected to develop steadily in the future.

 

In terms of specific needs for home decoration, Brazilians like to build home theaters and home gyms, and pay more attention to functionality and practicality.

 

In the post-epidemic era, many sellers began to look for emerging markets, and Brazil entered the vision of pioneers at this time.

 

As the largest economy in Latin America and the fifth largest country in the world, Brazil has a large e-commerce market. Of Brazil’s 209 million residents, 150 million are internet users, making it the fourth largest internet market in the world.

The latest data shows that the number of online shoppers in Brazil reached 87.7 million in 2021, of which 68% (more than two-thirds) purchased cross-border e-commerce products.

 

In terms of online spending, the average per- customer order value in the Brazilian e-commerce market is 441 reais, and the overall market demand is very considerable.

 

Among those who buy cross-border e-commerce products in Brazil, most prefer to shop on Asian cross-border e-commerce platforms, including Shopee (Singapore), Shein (China) and Aliexpress (China).


Data shows that among Brazil's 87.7 million online shoppers, 68% purchased imported goods in 2021, with the main product categories including fashion (38%), electronics (36%), and home decoration (24%). This year, 71% of respondents plan to continue shopping on such websites, with the main categories being electronics (48%), fashion and accessories (45%), and computer products (35%).
