Recently, research organization NTRA released the latest survey report on Egyptian online consumers during Ramadan 2022.
Data shows that during Ramadan in 2022 , the number of new mobile Internet users in Egypt reached 11 million per day , and the number of fixed Internet users increased to about 980,000.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, most people started working and studying remotely in the past two years, and online shopping and other online activities also increased significantly. Therefore, the global Internet usage rate has continued to rise.
Research shows that during this year's Ramadan, the usage of various Internet services in Egypt has shown an upward trend.
According to online shopping data, during this year's Ramadan, the number of Egyptian consumers shopping online on applications such as Amazon and Jumia has reached 10 million , with daily visits reaching 181 million. Compared with Ramadan in 2021, the number of online shoppers has increased by about 47%.
Meanwhile, the number of people sending emails during Ramadan increased by 132% .
Streaming apps and platforms – including Netflix, Shahid and WatchIt – also attracted 33 million users , with the number of people watching movies and series through these apps increasing by 76%.
In addition, the use of search engines and online games also increased by 19%, online chatting increased by 10%, and live video streaming increased by 9%.
The number of people visiting social media platforms was 35 million, a 20% increase from the previous Ramadan .
Ramadan is not only a religious carnival for Muslims, but also a shopping carnival for Muslims all over the world .
In Islamic countries, in addition to regular religious activities, there are more gatherings during Ramadan. People will prepare delicious food at home to entertain relatives and friends , dress up to attend the gatherings , and wish each other well. In order to create an atmosphere, people will also buy new furniture and more daily necessities, so the consumption of home decoration, fresh food, fashion, beauty, personal care and other categories will increase sharply.
Therefore, Ramadan is also the best time for cross-border sellers to increase store sales .
