Cainiao helps the global fight against the epidemic and successfully transports medical supplies donated by China to Latvia

On October 3rd , Beijing time , the Chinese Embassy in Latvia donated a batch of masks to the Latvian Olympic Club , as well as the municipal governments of Liepaja and Kurzeme , to help Latvia fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The masks were donated by Zhejiang Meiku Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and transported by Cainiao Network. The masks flew from Hangzhou, China to Riga, Latvia within 24 hours via the Hangzhou -Riga special line of Cainiao Global Parcel Network .

The latest data shows that there are cases of infection in 220 countries and regions outside of China , and the cumulative number of infections has reached 181 with more than 1,000 cases. The impact of the epidemic on the global economy is still continuing . Data shows that the world economy in 2020 declined by 3.3% year-on-year.

Latvia is located in northeastern Europe, bordering Russia and Belarus to the east . 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Latvia. Over the past 30 years, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries has increased from 26 million euros in 2000 to 798 million euros in 2020. Latvia is one of the earliest countries to participate in China -Central and Eastern European countries cooperation and an active participant in the "Belt and Road" initiative.

In March 2018 , Cainiao launched the Hangzhou -Riga cross-border parcel charter route, which now covers the entire Russian territory, with 7-8 flights per week . Cross-border parcels can fly from Hangzhou to Latvia, Ukraine , Belarus and other European countries. It is reported that this is the world's first cross-border parcel charter route for e-commerce in Russia.

Cross-border parcels sold to pan-Russian countries are sent to Hangzhou through Cainiao's domestic collection network, and then flown directly to Riga via charter flights after a stopover in Russia. After arrival, Cainiao works with local partners to complete terminal delivery in 11 pan-Russian countries including Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, etc. , and provides Chinese cross-border merchants with one-stop logistics solutions including domestic collection, international transportation, terminal delivery, logistics details tracking, and after-sales processing.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Cainiao has delivered more than 250 million pieces of medical supplies to more than 150 countries and regions around the world , and has successfully completed the transportation of China's new crown vaccine to Guyana, Barbados, Suriname, El Salvador , Trinidad and Tobago, Zambia, Kuwait and other countries .

"Cainiao has been deeply engaged in logistics infrastructure for many years. In recent years, it has continued to expand the construction of China's logistics network overseas and optimize it according to local conditions. These logistics networks are supporting the global fight against the epidemic in multiple dimensions. We also hope to provide comprehensive solutions for more cross-border transportation." Xiong Wei, assistant to the president of Cainiao and general manager of the export logistics division, told reporters.

In March 2021, the average daily cross-border parcel volume of Cainiao's global parcel network exceeded 5 million pieces, continuing to rank among the top four in the world. Among them, the "5 US dollars in 10 days" logistics product has covered European countries such as Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, etc., and is expected to cover 20 countries around the world this year .
