More than 4,000 pieces sold, another children's product was recalled!

Toys can kill time and help develop intelligence. They are essential in the growth of children. A good toy product, in addition to being fun and interesting, is also very important for product quality and safety.

On March 24, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of a building block toy set with the recall number 22-736.

The recall involves Tony's brand building blocks sets with product codes 840147407689, 840147407733 and 840147407580. The blocks are sold in sets of four and the product code is located below the barcode on the back of the box.

The product pictures are as follows:

These toy blocks are about 5 cm wide and 1.5 cm thick, and come in three colors: blue, tan and green. On one side of the blocks are patterns of various marine creatures, dinosaurs, etc., and on the other side are white text to introduce the patterns.

The recall is due to the magnets in these building blocks. If a young child intentionally or accidentally swallows two or more high-energy magnets, the swallowed magnets can attract each other or another metal object and become lodged in the digestive system. This can cause intestinal perforation, twisting or obstruction, infection, and in severe cases, blood poisoning and death.

It is reported that the product was manufactured in Germany and about 4,200 of the products were sold online on the Tonys website between November and December 2021, with prices ranging from US$15 to US$20. So far, Tonys has received one report about the magnet falling off the product, but no consumers have been injured.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said consumers should immediately stop using the toy product , keep it away from children, and contact Tony's to return the building blocks for a full refund. Tony's is also contacting all known buyers .

The target audience of toy products is mostly young children, who often lack a certain degree of safety awareness. Once a toy product has quality problems, the harm caused to children is immeasurable.

Toy products have always been a high-incidence area for recall incidents. Sellers in this category must strictly control the quality of their products when producing them to ensure the personal and property safety of consumers, while also avoiding the impact of recalls on subsequent operations.
