According to app analytics and data company data.ai , the French have downloaded shopping apps from China on a massive scale this year.
Recently, data.ai compiled data on the global e-commerce application market in the third quarter of 2023. The data shows that domestic e-commerce giants have occupied the vast majority of the French market, especially Temu, which has just entered the market, and its ranking has risen by 684 places, becoming the number one in the download list.
Specifically, in the first three quarters of this year, Temu and SHEIN were the two most downloaded apps in France, and AliExpress, also an e-commerce giant from China, also entered the top ten. As a rising star, although Temu has caused some social and environmental problems in France, its download growth is not ambiguous at all, with the highest annual growth rate in the French market. SHEIN's download growth also entered the top five, ranking fourth. Meanwhile, Dutch budget marketplace Action, which has recently come under the spotlight for its employee working conditions, continues to expand, ranking eighth in the list in terms of downloads and the third-highest year-over-year growth rate, behind only Temu and Mon E.Leclerc.
Another noteworthy result of the survey is that data.ai 's statisticians specifically pointed out that French consumers are spending more and more time on shopping apps and continue to download these apps. France's growth in time spent on such apps ( 8.8%) ranks second in the world, second only to China. In addition, data.ai also predicts that by this quarter, global Android consumers will spend about 26.5 billion hours on shopping apps .
However, in terms of growth in shopping app downloads, France is still in the middle compared to other countries, remaining stable over the past three years (22% growth in 2021 and 17.2% growth in 2022). From the third quarter to the fourth quarter of this year, the global shopping app downloads are expected to grow by 9.3%, and France will grow by 13%. Temu France SHEIN |
