Due to the pandemic , the development of e-commerce in the Peruvian market has grown exponentially in the past two years . In addition, related activities organized by major local organizations have also driven the development of the Peruvian e-commerce market.
It is understood that Peru will launch an event called CyberDays recently. The event will be held from March 28 to 30, and about 100 companies from different projects and industries will participate in the event .
In this regard, CCL also conducted a survey of 2,327 consumers . The research showed that 33.0% of Peruvians consume once a month, 20.9% consume once every 15 days , 20.1% purchase once a week, and 10.90% purchase once every two months.
In addition, 58.2% of consumers said that sometimes they would first go to a physical store to see the products they want to buy, and then buy them online, so that they can better evaluate price differences, quality, size, etc.
69.2% of the respondents said that they prefer to shop online because of the prices and special promotions, and they can find everything they want to buy . In addition, shopping at home is convenient and can save time and categories.
Jaime Montenegro, e-commerce manager at the Lima Chamber of Commerce, believes that e-commerce platforms have become a huge shopping space and the proportion of new buyers is increasing. It is estimated that about 13 million Peruvians have shopped online since the beginning of the epidemic . Online transactions are expected to reach US$10 billion by 2022 .
In terms of major consumer product categories, fashion and accessories accounted for 49.2%, home and electronics products accounted for 37.0%, and health and beauty-related products accounted for 23.3% ......
In terms of payment methods for Peruvian online consumers, the preferred payment method is credit card payment accounting for 44%, debit card payment accounting for 28% , and online payment through transfer or bank application accounting for 14.4% .
The relevant person in charge also said that the epidemic has changed the way many Peruvians shop. 92.7% of people prefer to receive products online at home, 73.2% choose to pick up in the store, and 39.1% choose to have them delivered at home .
