Nearly 8,000 candlesticks recalled due to fire risk

Nearly 8,000 candlesticks recalled due to fire risk

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website shows that TJX recently needed to recall 7,900 Hanukkah menorahs because the resin and medium-density fiberboard ("MDF") menorahs could burn or catch fire when holding a lit candle, posing a fire hazard.

The recalled candlesticks have inserts that hold nine candles. The candlesticks were sold in the following shapes: Camel, Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Castle, Rainbow, Rainbow Platform, and Emoji. The candlesticks were sold with a white hang tag that had an image of a blue and silver candlestick and the following text: "FESTIVE LIGHTS HANUKKAH MENORAH." One of the following style numbers was printed on a label on the bottom of the candlestick: 262933, 263407, 263417, 262950, 856166, 856168, 856179, 856182, 856189, 856192, 856262, 856266.

The products were made by Chinese manufacturers and sold at Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Homesense stores between November 2021 and January 2022 for between $8 and $15.

Prior to the recall announcement, TJX had received three reports in the U.S. of candlesticks burning or catching fire when a lit candle was held, though no injuries or property damage were reported.

TJX recommends that consumers stop using the candlesticks immediately and return them to a Marshalls, HomeGoods or Homesense store for a full refund or a store gift card. Consumers may also contact TJX for instructions on submitting photographic proof of proper disposal to receive a full refund or a store gift card.

It is understood that Hanukkah, also known as Hanukkah, Hanukkah, Dedication, Candlelight Festival, Maccabee Festival, etc., is a Jewish festival. The festival commemorates the Jews, under the leadership of the Maccabee family, taking back Jerusalem from Antiochus IV, the king of the Seleucid dynasty of Syria, and rededicating the Second Temple of Jerusalem to God.

In terms of time, it refers to the eight-day festival starting at dusk on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev , which falls in November or December of the Gregorian calendar. As an important Jewish festival, this festival is most popular in the United States, Canada, Western Europe and Israel. On this day, Jews will light nine candlesticks and give gifts to children. Hot-selling products include children's gifts, candlesticks, candles, etc.

For this reason, sellers must not only consider the level of attention when selecting products, but also pay attention to safety issues.
